My daughter has been turned off by milk for a while (though she will drink chocolate milk). She LOVES coconut and it's milk. I am thinking of getting Silk Coconut milk for her to try.

Any reviews as to it's flavor and consistency would be helpful. What about the regular vs. the vanilla kind? Is the regular very thin and tasteless? Is the vanilla too sweet? Do your kids drink it?

Thanks!

My DD 16 has never liked milk. That and a recent discovery of lactose intolerance has prompted me to buy the Vannila Soy Silk for her. She LOVES it!!!!:thumbsup2 We drink skim milk and it has the same consistancy. She uses it in her cereal, coffee and tea. Even my DS 14 has started to drink it more than regular milk which he usually only likes with ovaltine. It is not as sweet as you would think. The flavor does not effect the taste of cereal.

Personally I didn't like coconut milk. I prefer the light original silk - I can't even drink regular milk at all anymore. And I think the flavoring makes it too sweet. Then again, I'm not a kid, lol.

I love the Silk Coconut and so does my daughter. The consistency feels richer than my regular skim milk. If you like the flavor of coconut then you'd probably like Silk's coconut. It also only has 80 calories per cup I believe, which is pretty awesome.

My ds has a severe milk allergy so he drinks the Silk coconut and the Silk Almond milk. He prefers the almond to the coconut. So do I but I can handle the coconut better if it's on cereal. Just not as good for drinking straight. Silk almond makes a dark chocolate if your dd likes chocolate milk.

I'm not picky when it comes to milk or milk like beverages.

I have fun each week at the grocery store trying to find the best deal. This week the Smart Growth milk was cheaper than regular 2% milk.

I have bought soy milk, almond milk and oat milk. I usually start off on the flavored ones (chocolate or vanilla) if I'm not sure what it will be like. I once got a huge 4 L jug of sweetened soy milk for a really low price-.75? I made up lots of waffles for my niece. I even called my aunt for her vanilla sauce recipe to help use up some of the soy milk. Haven't found a deal like that again.

Anyone have an opinion on which one is best in coffee? I would think that the flavored ones would taste pretty good. I had the coconut one in my hand the other day, but then did not buy it, I'm waiting to hear some more reviews.

My daughter has dairy and nut allergies as well as a pp. Suprisingly I learned Coconut is not really a 'nut' so she can have the Coconut milk. At first she didn't care for it, but changed her mind when it was on cereal or something like that. So maybe not to drink it straight, but it was definately okay to have in or on something. From what I've heard, almond milk is the best, but it's not an option for us.

I have not tried Silk coconut milk cause I do not want any chance of soy and since they make soy milk there would be chance of contamination for me. I really like So Delicious coconut milk and they also have ice cream, yogurt and coffee creamer. I also see that Almond Breeze has coconut milk as well. I love their Almond Milk. I too can't stand cows milk and there are so many options on the market right now.

I don't care for coconut, but Silk Soy is okay, the vanilla & choc are way too sweet. It's all about personal taste. Buy it and see if she likes it. I prefer regular skim milk probably because that's what I've always had.

I haven't had the coconut one yet so can't comment on that but do love soy milk, also if you go to the website they have coupons you can print off.

I love the Silk coconut milk and the So Delicious brand. Both are equally good. I also like vanilla almond milk, and even have gone with the plain almond milk. That took some getting used to, but after a few days it grew on me. Soymilk is my least favorite. After having the others, all the soymilks taste chalky to me.

We love the coconut ice cream from So Delicious, but DS (with a cassein intolerance) doesn't like the drinkable form. He never really was a straight milk drinker, either. We use the Diamond plain almond milk for everyday use in cereal, cooking, etc. I never have regular milk around anymore. Personally, we try to limit soy as it has estrogens and I think too much could be a bad idea.

Can't comment on the coconut one, but the Silk soymilks taste funky to me. Plain or flavored, they all have a very "plant-y" aftertaste...like you took a drink of milk and then licked a 2x4, LOL. Just my opinion, though. I know many people who love it!

My kids love the So Delicious (by Turtle Mountain) coconut milk ice creams. They're not so fond of the flavour of the coconut milk; the consistency was like what they already drink. DD14 drinks Silk Soy and DD11 drinks whatever unflavoured rice milk I buy (she can't do soy milk). They hate the Kefir coconut milk because of the consistency (it's thick).
