Anyone else have this problem? Here's what happened: Placed DVD in player, player says loading loading loading.... then gives up trying. It did eventually play on the same player twice but can't seem to get the replacement I went and picked up to play on that player at all. Other new DVDs play fine on that player. I put Open Season in DS's player and it plays fine. :confused3 Any ideas? TIA!

This works on our pc games and dvd's... use regular toothpaste (not gel kind)... rub on rear of disc and then wash with regular water, wipe dry with smooth cloth, towel etc.

Then try to play again.

This trick works every time for our discs (with a 3 yo I do this often).

Saw it on GMA few months ago.

hope this helps... oops just re-read your post, I'm not sure the disc is your problem, sounds like it's your dvd player, may need some sort of internal cleaning

otherwise, take it back to store and get replacement dvd

The same thing (not Open Season, though) has been happening to me. I can't get a disc to play on the DVD player so I try another room & it works. Maybe the DVD player needs to be cleaned, but I have no idea how to do that.

The disk that I'm trying to play isn't dirty or scratched, and other dvds play fine in this player, even other brand new ones. If that dvd never played in the player it would make sense but since it did play twice I just don't get it.

I totally know what you mean. It makes me so mad. My kids will be standing there whining about not getting to watch whatever movie they picked & I'll take it out, and put it back in, and take it out again, and put it back in. Sometimes it will play if I do that enough times.

Gee, I just purchased this DVD on sale at Walmart for my daughter. It's going in her valentines bag so I can't try it out yet. Guess I'll wait and see.

My husband told me that Sony has some type of new DVD protection on their disks (he was reading an article for his computer class) and that it is causing some problems with the disks being able to be read in certain players. I just looked at our copy of Open Season and it looks like it's a sony, that could be part of the problem maybe! I know we recently had trouble with another sony that we couldn't get to play, I can't remember what it was though. I'll see if he still has the article and if he does I'll post a link.

Yeah the same thing happened to us with another Disney DVD (can't remember which). I called the tech support number they provide on the box and they told me my DVD player wasn't compatible with the copy protection. Nothing can be done...we just play it on a different DVD player.

Just doesn't seem right, does it?

I have been having the same type of problem with a Philips DVD player. I don't have Open Season, but we are having problems with High School Musical and Cars in the Philips DVD player only. (It works fine on all of our other DVD players.) If you try to start the movie at the beginning, the DVD player gets hung up on the FBI warning screen and starts making a clicking noise. For DS to watch the movie from the beginning, I have to choose Scene Selection and start the movie on the 2nd scene and then skip back to the first screen. It works fine that way. It's something with the FBI warning screen. I even cleaned the HSM DVD with scratch repair and cleaned the DVD player with one of those cleaning discs and it still wouldn't work with HSM or Cars. We bought the DVD player at Target in late December, so I've thought about taking it back and asking to exchange it.

Just rented Open season and woudn't play on our DVD in the bedroom. Years back had the same problem with Dinosaur, at that time disney replaced it, as some of the newer discs weren't working with older players and the bonus footage Dinosaur was formatted different.

The DVD player I tried to watch open season on is BRAND NEW and is a RECORDER, yet it will NEVER work right. Makes me so mad, won't record a darn thing, always format error at the very end after doing everything! So I have no idea what the issues are now with DVD's, it is extremely annoying though!

Our DVD player does this too. I just always thought that it was an issue with the player being messed up or something. Drives me nuts, my daughter always gets so upset when it just refuses to read the DVD.

Okay, we have managed to get it to play consistently. After the player gives up on trying to load it, we then hit Clear, Enter, and then Top Menu and it plays! Good luck to everyone else, thanks for the input!

I rented Open Season twice at Blockbusters, and I tried to play it in two diferent DVD players (Toshiba and Zenith, with the Zenith being brand new) I also tried to play in two different PC's with both Power DVD and WInDVD with same results. Blockbusters just sent me a copy from their online stock thinking that their in-store batch was defective, but I get the same problem. This is the first time in 6 or so years that I have had any kind of difficulty playing any movie. If this attributable to a Copy Protection scheme then someone has made a very stupid mistake.

I have read reviews about this movie that make it sound like I should not keep on trying. if I have to do detective work to play a movie that I paid for then there is something wrong with the whole picture.
