I didn't believe it, but so far it's worked for me with everyone I've tried.

Take the last 2 digits of the year you were born. Add that to your age this year.

Did it add up to 111? ... Me too!

And it will add up to 111 for EVERYONE this year.

Try it ... it's one of those freaky number things.

My niece is turning 16 this year. 16 plus 95 = 111

I will be 46. 46 plus 65 = 111

My mom is going to be 70. 70 plus 41 = 111

Freaky.

If you think about it, you are really just doing simple addition and subtraction. It will always work. Next year it would add up to 112.

I assumed there was some simple explanation for it, but I still don't see why it works for everyone, regardless of age.

Huh. It does work for every year. Now I feel silly.

Not as silly as people who have nothing better to do than think up equations like this. Sort of like people who try to calculate when disboards.com registrations reach 400,000. :rolleyes1

By the way, for 1971, the magic number was 71. The sum will always going to be the last two digits of the current year. The drafter of this problem disguised the simplicity of the equation by saying to add your age and the last two digits of your DOB.
