Hi all -

We are taking DD age 5 to NYC for a long weekend at the end of April. I have a pretty good idea of what to do but need some help with dining suggestions. I don't want to eat fast food or wing it for every meal.

So, does anyone have kid friendly dining suggestions in NYC that won't cost a fortune?

Details: We are staying at the Omni Berkshire Place, 21 East 52nd Street at Madison Avenue. It is a few blocks from American Girl Place, Rockefeller Center, St Patricks, etc.

We do plan to have a meal or tea at the American Girl Place.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Carmines Family style italian on W 44th and broadway. The food is awesome and served family style( portions serve 4 ).They have an internet site.

Try a lunch at Alice's Tea Cup! They are decorated really cute and my husband & I loved the steak salad we both had. The scones are delicious. And it's Alice, lol.

There are a couple of locations. We went to Chapter 2. http://alicesteacup.com/

Hands down, John's Pizzeria in Times Square (44th b/t Broadway and 8th). Architectural gem, it's in a converted church with stained glass windows, spiral stairs(? balcony seating area anyway), and a huge mural of the city on one wall. There's an open pizza oven kitchen area that we were seated near; the kids were fascinated, and I'd swear this is where they filmed the restaurant scene in "Enchanted".

It's extremely kid friendly, and adult friendly. Great pizza, great entrees, great wine, great service. http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com

There's also a Dave and Buster's in Times Square. Have fun!

I was just going to suggest this place. Very cute place, food was good. I was at Chapter 1. My aunt also recommends Serendipity.

We are big fans of Ellens Stardust, lots of fun!

Ditto here! My entire family went on my 9 yo sister's b-day dinner. She LOVED it. My entire family gets into it, really. Of course, it helps that my Mom and I are Broadway lovers...

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! They sound great! I knew I could count on my fellow DIS'ers for help. :)

You have to eat lunch at American Girl. Call right away because they book up way in advance. We think for the money we spent for lunch it was well worth it! NY prices are so high that the TGI Friday's across the street from the AG store was around the same price as our lunch at AG Store.

Another vote for Ellen's. I took DD to NYC for her 9th b-day last year and she loved this one. The cast even sang a HSM song! She still talks about it!

WE really liked this place too and so did our girls...DD7 and DD16. They LOVED the food and they were thrilled with fantastic decor. We sat upstairs and the restaurant is really beautiful!!
