Hello :)

I just have a quick question ... my Norton subscription is running out shortly ... should I just renew on-line like they keep asking me to, or should I buy a new version in the store? I know sometimes there are rebates on them in the store, but don't know if I've seen that this year. No rebate to renew on-line. Plus if I do buy a new version, which one should I have? They offer different things (ie. firewalls, etc) ... I'm a pretty basic computer person, so what should I do?

Thanks for any help ...

Kerri

I always renew mine online, have done so for 3 years now. Never had any problems all it does is change my subscription date so I can reaccess all the updates.

We always purchase ours in conjunction with QuickTax, as there is usually a rebate for doing so. ($40 this year) Also, it's nice to have the CD to use if there is a problem.

I just renewed ours this past week....I usually renew for about 3 years and then when I find a good deal I buy the latest.I have always used Norton System works and have always had good results with them.:) :thumbsup2

I use AVG free. Great software, less of a system resource hog and it just plain works. Just google AVG Free and see what you come up with!

We've always renewed online until one year we had problems with our burner..( I think it was the CD burner , it was some part anyway) It was still under waranty, so we had to uninstall every program on the computer, then we got a new one. When we went to reinstall our Norton ( we did not have the disc because we renewed online....) They wouuld not reissue it to us. You recieve ONE install and that's it. My husband spent MANY hours one the phone trying to resolve the issue ( their customer service was not the best ).
Our resolution with them ( after over a month of dealing with them) was we would have to purchase another year and they would credit us our unused months ( we had only had it 3 months). So we paid twice , but had it for 19 months. It was a real pain trying to deal with customer service.
We purchase it now from Costco every year.

I am a computer programmer. I also am A+ Certified. I have been using AVG and installing AVG in all the systems that I have worked on.

Norton & McAfee use up a ton of your systems resources.

AVG is free also.

We have also switched to AVG and it works great. We also have Norton as part of Rogers High Speed. Rogers added it as an additonal freebie last fall.

I always renew online and purchase the newer version every few years online. My computer crashed completely a while ago and I lost everything on it. I just had to log onto the Norton site and my account showed that I had purchased the product and I was able to download it again with absolutely no problems, I believe I just had to click on the link. I'm thinking that I did pay a few dollars extra to have that option ($5) or something like that. I can't remember exactly, but I know I was able to reinstall it.
