I tend to drive a little bit faster than posted speeds on the highway, but not all that much. Our last drive from the Norfolk airport to Williamsburg took about 40 - 45 minutes right up I-64. Norfolk is a lot closer to Williamsburg than Richmond (90 to 100 miles from the airport to Williamsburg).

I agree, we live in the area and Norfolk is closer. However, at peak times the ride can be longer depending on traffic. i.e. everyone headed to Busch Gardens on a Saturday am lol. It has taken us 2 hours before! I would say fly where ever is cheaper for you too.

June is tourist season for the Hampton Roads area. You would have to take the Hampton Roads tunnel to get from Norfolk to Williamsburg. That tunnel can be backed up for over an hour on a normal day. Involve an accident or a toxic spill in the tunnel and it can be disasterous. Save yourself the headache. Fly into Richmond. Of course, if you are traveling realy early morning or really late at night and there are no accidents you should be ok going into Norfolk.

Norfolk airport folks-I'm flying from that airport for the first time soon. Is it easy and straightforward getting to it coming from 64 from Richmond? Parking ok or a nightmare? Same with security and such.

I agree with Sleepy, use Richmond to avoid having to go through the tunnel.

You would kick yourself if you get caught up in a bad traffic jam and realized you could have avoided it by using the Richmond airport.

Could you use Patrick Henry Field airport? It is right there in the Newport News/Williamsburg area.
