OT - Nintendo Game Cube

We're thinking about buying a game cube for my 2 older boys - 6 & 8. Unfortunately, neither of us really know anything about game systems. Would this be a good one for the boys to start with? I'd really like to try to find some non-violent, kid friendly games. A local store sells used systems for $50 - $60. Just wondering if anyone's bought a used system and which one would you recommend? Also curious if anyone brings them to Disney? I know there's so much other stuff to do, I just thought for the plane ride, rest at the hotel in the afternoons or the evenings. And if we decide to buy a game system, we were thinking about giving it to my 6 year old on his birthday, which we be less than 2 weeks before our Disney trip. I know they'll be excited about it and want to bring it, just not sure if its a good idea. Thanks for any info or advice!

We had a game cube-they make kid-friendly games for them. Look for an E rating on the front of the game. You can also get actual reviews from parents on them online. I've lost the link to where I used to look but you should be able to google it.

FWIW, my kids dropped our game cube several times (get excited, yank on the controller cord, and there it goes!) and it never did a thing.
They are not portable, though, so I'm not sure if you're confusing it with a gameboy? Those are the handheld ones. If you want a handheld one, go with the gameboy advance that folds in half. The flat older ones get scratched easy. My oldest has a DS but I don't think they're worth the money for younger kids.

If it's one or the other, I'd start with a gameboy, and if later you decide you want a game cube, you can get a converter that attaches to the bottom that will allow them to play their gameboy games on the game cube. And then you can also easily pack to Disney and use on the plane.
