OT: Night time diapers?

I have never thought of putting two diapers on my little one at the same time, we have the leaky diaper problem at night also. My 6 yro still occasionally has accidents at night as well that leak through the pullups, any suggestions on what to do at the hotel?

When I was still married a few years ago, my step-son who was 5-6 years old was a nightly bed-wetter -every night, and always soaked, to the point where he could wake up in a puddle. Pullups never worked and neither did goodnites, which always leaked on him out the sides, possibly because he used to toss and turn quite a bit in his sleep. He was also small and skinny, about 36 pounds.

Anyway, for him/us the ONLY thing that ever worked was using a combination of a pampers cruisers diaper (which are already pretty amazing by themselves) together with a diaper doubler. He also often wore a pair of plastic pants over that just in case, but I think most younger children wouldn't need that.

You can find those diaper doublers in some supermarkets -I'm also pretty sure that Toys R Us/Babies R Us carries them. It's basically a large pad that you put in the diaper/pullup and it provides extra absorbency, and they really work! You get 30 in a package for around $3. I found them to be a tad large in size, so I use to cut them to make them fit better.

HTH!

How old is your little one who wears the Goodnites? I just looked at them online, but they start at 38 lbs, or something like that.

He is 5 now, but he has been wearing them for a couple of years at night. I'm pretty sure he was below the weight when he started using them. They are made like pull ups with elastic sides and elastic around the legs. Call Huggies and I think they will give you a coupon to try them.

We tried doubling diapers, but that always leaked. I think the inner one would get so full that it leaked at the waist so the outer one didn't do a thing. I swear by the goodnights. Their add says that Goodnights mean Good mornings and that is so true. We also have a pad that we can put under him, the kind that hospitals have under incontinent patients. Those work well and are washable. They would be good in a hotel situation for extra protection. I've also heard of people putting a shower curtain liner under the sheets for extra protection. Since the good nights we don't require extra protection. He is really working on getting up during the night to go to the bathroom and has gotten up the last 2 nights on his own. Of course he was still wet this morning, but not nearly as much as some mornings.

Thanks for all the ideas! We have twins that are almost 15 months and we have the same problem each night/morning unless we change them in the middle of the night. Othewise we go through 4 sets of pajamas each night as well as have babies that are awake at anywhere between 2:00 and 4:00 in the AM. Not fun!

Another vote for moving up a size. Leaking was a signal to do this for us. I don't think we had a lot of overnight type diapers when DD10 was little. Of course we lived in a tiny town, so maybe we just didn't have the same product selection. Anyway, going up a size (and sometimes they seemed too big) always worked like a charm.

Good luck!

We are having the same problem but going up to a size 5 at night didnt help...I think they leaking because they were too big. Im going to try the Huggies overnights. I have never been a huggies fan b/c they always leaked, but its certainly worth a shot if so many disers are doing it!!! Thanks

Can someone post what they pay at Target or Shaws for them? I usually order from diapers.com and they have the size 4 super mega pack which has 62 diapers for $23.99. Just wondering if that is somewhat comparable.

I just wanted to thank you for all of the responses. I finally found Huggies Overnites in a size 3! They are great! :thumbsup2 We haven't had any leaks since we started using them.

I never found diaper doublers, but thankfully I haven't needed them now that I found the Overnites.

Thanks again! It's so nice to not be constantly washing pj's and crib sheets.

Try Pampers Cruisers. I used to go up a size for my DD's night time diapers so I would be sure she didn't pee though them!!!

The regular price at my Target and grocery store is $10.99 for 31 count pack. HTH!

Huggies Overnights! They have wonderfully for all 3 of my kids. Size 3 is hard to come by, but worth buying if you can find them!

You're right about size 3 being hard to find. I finally found them and now I will probably order more online so I don't have to keep searching. I think he'll probably be in size 3 for a while, so I can order a larger quantity.

We have had good luck with the Huggies Overnites.....but now my son is getting too big for the Size 5's and leaking out the top of those too....he is 22 months old. I have looked everywhere for the diaper doublers but can't find them, I think I might have to try the Good Nites...hopefully they are not too big for him.

BTW, I swear by Pampers Cruisers during the day, but they would never make it at night.

That's good to know. I'm still using Pampers Swaddlers on DS. I love how soft they are and they smell nice too, but since he's 15 months old, I guess his Swaddler days are almost over. We'll try Cruisers then. I used Huggies with my older two kids, but for some reason I just didn't like them this time around. :confused3
