It's Dan's 21st birthday on December 1st and we are looking for a nice restaurant in London to take him to, next Saturday night. (His Western friends are taking him out on his actual birthday).

He has suggested the Keg on Richmond...I phoned and they don't take dinner reservations on the weekends so I guess we'd go for an early dinner so avoid waits.

I'm just looking around for other possibilities...there's Oscars on Richmond and the Armouries Grill downtown. Any other ideas?

I'm not sure if we will have a problem getting a reservation with Christmas office dinners, etc.

It used to be called the horse and hound but has changed it's name it is out on hyde Park Rd by teh Town and Country fitness club. There is also Chancey Smiths.

A couple of my favourites are Tru which is downtown or the Windemere Cafe which is at Windemere Manor right by the University

Miahaels on the Thames - downtown on York St, or Michael's Off Bradley, on Dearness Drive near WhiteOaks mall in the south end of the city.

Have a fun dinner, Julie ! And Happy Birthday to Dan !!!

Thank you for all, for the suggestions! :)

Can't believe I've got a 21 year old son, Mary-Liz! I can still picture him as a tot! And thanks! :)

It's funny Julie how he's getting older but you're not.LOL Have fun and wish him a Happy one.

One of my favourites when I lived in London was Filleeney Kaleeny's (SP?)
It is in the west end near Windermere ~ Perhaps MaryLiz or someone who lives in London could give you directions? It is this great little Italian restaurant with amazing bread sticks about 12 inches long. Very good place.

you could try Garlics downtown or the Tasting Room is also really nice. You can order a few different appetizers, for your meal or they also have meals. they also have flights of wine which gives you 4 sample glasses of a particular type of wine. I don't drink so I'm not sure of the differences between the samples. The food here is amazing though.

There is also a KEG on Wellington Rd by White Oaks if you don't want to head downtown.

Horse & Hound is now known as Volkers on Hyde Park. It went through some turmoil a couple of years ago, and I haven't been there for a while, but it has always had excellent food and the house is impressive. Just don't park beside any large trees if it's windy. ;) (They had an 80 ft tree take out three cars in the parking lot a few weeks back during one of the big blows.)

If you're looking for Mexican cuisine, we always like Under the Volcano. There was also another thread on the Canadian board about a year ago on the same topic.
