This isn't DIS related but I could use some positive thinking and pixie dust for something that is pretty minor in the big scheme of things but is very big in a 3 yr. old boys life. :sad1:

We went to a Target near our home this evening to get a prescription filled for my oldest DS. We leave and after we get home and my youngest starts asking for his Nintendo DS and then I realized that it was missing. I immediately called the store who sent someone out to check the shopping carts and I ran back up to the store. In the thirty minutes from the time that we left the store up to the time that I got back up to the store (we live at most 7 minutes from the store) someone had found it and left with it. Even before I was a mom there is no way that I'd have kept something that was obviously a child's toy, I would have turned it into the store. I know that we'll never see that Nindtendo DS again and I am kicking myself over and over because ultimately it was my responsibility and I didn't check the shopping cart very good after getting our stuff out.

So if I can ask for positive thoughts and pixie dust that this person's conscious will kick in and they'll return it to the store I'd appreciate it. TIA

That totally sucks  I ran it past DH ::cop: and he said if you know the serial # from the DS, go ahead and report it. Around here, the officers check pawn shops. So, it may be worth filing the report...
Good luck to you. And if it never comes back, I hope Karma catches up the bad guys. :rolleyes1

So sorry to hear that :sad2:

Keep thinking good thoughts and maybe good things will happen when you least expect them!

I'm assuming you've already done this...but did you check the car over really well to make sure it didn't fall under the seat or something? Fingers crossed for ya!

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how your son lost his Darling Son (DS) and you're not totally freaking out! Whew! I get it now.

Me too. Then I assumed she meant a nintendo ds, but was confused, is there a DS for a 4 yr old? Sorry I don't know much about them.

I bet you will get it back, keeping callign the store. It is usally a case of one person not knowing another turned it in somewhere in the store. :goodvibes

Didn't mean to confuse anyone, I wasn't thinking too clearly last night. Yes I meant a Nintendo DS (have changed the original post to reflect that). There are some games out there that are fun for our youngest (most of the Petz ones are super) and it keeps him from bugging his older brother when the oldest is trying to play his.

I am so sorry sweetie!!! I am the type of person who once turned in a money clip with a huge roll of cash in it!!! honestly if its not mine I don't have the right to say finders keepers!!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prey their karma bites them in the toushie(sp?)!!!!

I am really interested in a nintendo DS for myself so I know how bad that can suck!!! sorry again!!! just as preventative measures next time maybe you could rig up some type of handle, like that of a heavy camera strap that keeps the DS on you son's hand while out in public?

Aww, I know how terrible you both feel. Been there done that, but not with something as expensive as a DS. It makes you feel horrible for a while. I will definitely send you lots of prayers and pixie dust.

I know if I lost my DS with my Nintendogs in it, I'd be heartbroken, not so much for the DS, but I would totally miss my dogs! I love my Nintendogs almost as much as my real dog!

here ya go sweetie

Very cute and Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the happy thoughts. :)

I'm still kicking myself and my DH is going to call up to the store to see if they will be willing to check their security tapes of the parking lot during a two hour window. When I got back up to the store last night the parking lot was still relatively empty and there was only one cart in the shopping cart corral where I had left our cart so that could have been our cart, just empty now. I'd like the store to view their tapes to make sure that it wasn't an employee that found it and kept it.

I have a lot of time in that DS (was kicking some Mario Brother booty this past weekend) and my youngest wants to clean his horse (which he calls Baby) again. Fingers are crossed that a conscious will kick in somewhere. We've just had a run recently of bad luck... won't even go into the magic trick that my 7 yr. old tried to perform but it landed him in the E/R instead. :sad2:

AWW I am sorry about your recent bad luck!!! hope it gets better soon (trying to imagine the trick:headache: )

I would say the world is getting more dishonest, but I had something similar happen to me 30 years ago. I found a zippered leather coin purse with bills and coins totalling about 50 dollars (a *fortune* to a 9yo in 1978) at a department store. The purse even had an ichthyus (Christian "fish" symbol) on it. I turned it in and was told to wait 60 days; if unclaimed, it would be mine! As you can imagine, I ticked the days off the calendar as though waiting for Christmas. Mom and I returned on Day 60 .... and someone working at the store had emptied the purse of its' contents.

Worst case scenario; if you don't get the DS back, your son will at least learn as I did that the world can be ugly and that it's up to those of us who DO have values to treat others well and to work to make those values more widespread. Crummy way to have to learn it, though. :goodvibes
