OT: Need help finding jeans that fit my kids!

I'm hoping some of you can help me find a brand of jeans that may be sized to fit my children.

Here are my little hard-to-fit monkeys:

DS2 (25 months) - He's super slim. He's in approximately the 15th percentile for weight and 50th for height. His waist and bottom are so small, he has been wearing 3-6 month or 6-9 month shorts all summer. His 12-18 month Old Navy jeans are too short and I'm afraid the next size up will be too big in the waist. I'm wondering what brands have adjustable waist bands?

DD1 (12 months) - She super fluffy. He's in the 95th percentile for weight and 50th for height. I'm finding that girls' clothing is cut smaller. So, my problem with her has been finding something that fits her thighs and bottom without being entirely too long. I just tried a pair of 12 month Levi jean on her and they fit perfectly in the waist and thigh, but I had to roll them way up. Not cute for the flared leg jean.

Can anyone offer any advice. I seem to have two children with two completely different problems.

I have got to get these kids some well-fitting jeans or pants for the cooler weather. I've been able to slide by with shorts for a long time this year!

My son fits in Lee slim jeans the best (kohls carries them). Next is Osh Kosh, then Gap--but only in the slim sizes. All 3 come with adjustable waist. Osh Kosh will call stores to find what you're looking for if they don't have it in stock. I also frequently tack waistbands on sweatpants, too. Once in the back if they're only a little too big, once at each side if they're waaay too big.

Can't help with the girls--both mine have the "stand up and the pants fall down" syndrome But have you tried leggings? They might have enough give in them.

Old Navy jeans have adjustable waists from 2T on. My only suggestion for your dd is scissors and hem tape or sewing. I found for my dd, that the old navy jeans were best because the fabric is much softer than most and when she was more chuuby int he thighs, it was better to have a softer more lightweight fabric. She thinned out and now I have the opposite problem.

Not jeans, but for your 12 month old DD, I would try leggings instead of jeans. They fit fluffy and skinny, and you can up size without the length being a problem (they just kind of scrunch). And they are so cute with a tunic or swing top. I've bought them at Target, Gymboree, Lands End - they just seem to be everywhere for little ones.

I never put jeans on my DDs (I'm sure that it is different with boys) until they were 2 or so. I just found them a pain for fitting and a pain for diaper changes.

As a PP said, Old Navy is great for adjustable waist for boys and girls--once my dd hit size 5, she could wear their slims with adjustable waist. The Gap has them, too, but we no longer have a GapKids in our mall

I second the leggings idea for your dd--they fit well and they're really cute, too!

I'll second the GAP jeans for skinny ones. My ds5 is very skinny - had him in elastic waist pants for the first 3 years of his life because everything else would fall off him (and some elastic would too unless it was really tight). Anyway - the Slim Gap style has adjustable waist and I don't even need to pull it too tight cuz the slim are that. You can find them on clearance for around $15 or so. But they can be pricey so look for sales.

Carter's outlet has adjustable waist jeans in toddler sizes. Not sure about infant sizes however.

I love the Target jeans - they have adjustable waistbands & fit skinny minnie DD to a T, length & waist are perfect fit. I agree w/the leggings poster - that is such a cute style & comfy too. If not, Penney's has cute stuff & carry wider waists in larger sizes -not sure about toddler size though.

Target carries kids jeans w/ adjustable waists too, I believe Cherekee brand

I find that childrens place jeans fit more slim but I have girls so I don't know how boys fit. For the larger waisted kids I have found Target brand (Circo) to be cut much wider than other brands. For your DD's age I think leggings would be great. Hannah Andersson makes some really cute clothes for wider girls.

I've had the same issues with my girls. One is tall and thin. The other is short with a little bit of the round baby tummy still.

I give my vote to Target too. The jeans are only 7.99 and they have all kinds of different sizes. If you had to go into the bigger kids section, the jeans are 9.99. They have a variety of sizes and adjustable waists. I can't remember all the sizes in the little kids, but the big kids at 4/5/6 came in regular, slim, X, etc.

Sometimes the jeans at The Children's Place can fit well, but they are expensive if not on clearance. The knees ALWAYS wear out sooner or later and create a big hole too.

Can't offer help with your DD- I have a super skinny DD. Leggings would probably fit the bill better than jeans. For colder weather, sweatpants would also work.

Old Navy, Gap, Children's Place, and Target all have the adjustable waistbands, which are a lifesaver for skinny little waists/butts. I think that besides Target, all the other stores listed also carry slim sizes. DD needs a slim, and even then, she has to cinch in the adjustable waist. Children's Place doesn't carry the slims in the store, though- you need to order them online.

I find that the Tommy jeans are much slimmer than anything we have tried.

My ds7 is in the 3rd percentile for weight, but the 40th percentile for height. When he was a toddler, the Children's Place slim jeans fit him the best. Now, the best jeans for him are from the Gap (in slim).

Not sure if anyone knows this, but if you go into the Children's Place or the Gap and they don't have the slims on shelf (or the size you are looking for), you can get free shipping to have them sent to your home. At the Children's Place, they gave me a coupon for free shipping if I order online. At the Gap, they found a store that had the size I wanted and the store mailed them out to my house for free.

I find Old Navy to fit slimest without buying a slim. I just got some gap jeans in a slim and loving them (although I will not shell out that for jeans, they were used). I love adjustable waist, best thing ever invented. I also like Carters for my string bean, but not all of them, I just tried khaki's everywhere and ended up at Old Navy, the rest were so so baggy.

I buy pretty much all of DD7's clothes at Gap Kids. I do pay more than I would like but she is very petite and the slims they carry (with adjustable waists) fit her best. They also carry plus sizes but I am not sure how those fit. The stores are usually full of regular sizes and I do have to order online alot of the time. Old Navy, which is owned by Gap, has some stuff but I find that they don't have the quality that the Gap has. Her clothes from the Gap tend to last a LONG time and then get passed down to her little sister (and then usually down to my best friend's little girl) so I really feel that I am getting my money's worth. I hate leggings......she is 7 not 2. She wants to look "cool" like her friends so I suck it up and buy her what looks good on her. Lucky for me she wears uniforms to school (also from Gap Kids) and my mom buys her alot of clothes so I don't have to buy too much!!! She does end up wearing alot of skirts on the years where she gets a little taller but no bigger around. Also, she can wear a few things from Limited Too now. They have slims. Some things in a 6 slim fit her some things are still way too big. It always depends on the individual item.

Levi's makes slim jeans for boys starting size 4. I believe all Levi's jeans up to size boys 7 or girls 6x have adjustable waists. They're the only jeans which fit my thin 8 year old. I get them at Kohl's.

On the littlest ones, I would not use jeans. My kids did not wear them much until they were about 3 because they don't work well on those little legs.

We actually had several pairs in a 3T slim for boys. It turned out they were smaller in the waist and the same length as regular 2T jeans. The same is proving true with the 4T slims I just pulled out for this year. They were perfect for my skinnier twin.

I have 2 skinny kids. The adjustable waist did not work for them. All it did was bunch the material in the back. It looked terrible. I find the pants that have an elastic waist band all around work best. The slim jeans are good but I haven't seen any in a 2 slim. I think it starts at 4. In the colder months I buy sweat pants either from walmart or target that have the elastic waist. They run very small. My 3 year old wears a 3t in them. If I would put any other pant on him in a 3t they would fall off but not the sweats. Every year around the beginning of Sept they put them out. I buy a pair in every color! Also Old Navy in the summer months carries the pants that convert into shorts. They also have the elastic waist band that goes all around. They run small too I also buy a 3t in them.

I also agree with the leggings. They have the elastic waist band and run small. My daughter used to wear them between 1-5 years. Good luck
