We're heading to Myrtle Beach for the first time in about a month (we usually go to VA Beach or the Outer Banks). Does anyone have any recommendations for good restaurants? I'm looking for some good seafood restaurants as well as kid friendly places - our kids are 3, 3, and 5. TIA!!

A good seafood restaurant is Phillips. Also, there are a ton of buffets and they are all about the same, just pick one that isn't crowded. The Sea Fare is one that is on the southern end of MB and it is neat because they have live mermaids swimming in the lobby area that interact with the kids. Also, may want to hit Margaritaville.

We absolutely love Damon's at the south end of the strip. It's ocean front and you can eat out on the deck overlooking the ocean. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I would strongly suggest checking prices before you go into the seafood buffets. We went to a Calabash or something that was like $35.00 per person. Thats great if you eat seafood, but I can only eat child size meals and I hate seafood, but dh loves it.

Sticky Fingers is great for barbeque.

I used to live there so I have eaten pretty much everywhere....drive a little ways south to Murrells Inlet and go to Bovine's if you love a good steak, they also have awesome shrimp and grits!!! Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery at Broadway at the Beach is our favorite place to eat at. Joe's Crab Shack is fun for the kiddies and Landry's has really good seafood. Margaritaville is a fun environment and good food too!! Tony Roma's has great BBQ Ribs, I would avoid the seafood buffets, they are overpriced and not very good!!

If you are a family that likes to be aggravated and picked on while eating go to Dick's Last Resort in North Myrtle at Barefoot Landing...everything is served in a bucket, if you want condiments you have to ask and then they give you a hard time about it..lol...your table cloth is a piece of butcher paper and your napkin is a roll of brown paper towels. I love the place, but DH hates it...hahaha ( More reason for me to love it..:rotfl:)

You can't go wrong with any of the seafood restaurants in Calabash! Our favorite is Cap. Nance's. You can get a deluxe seafood platter for under $20! It's big enough to share!
Also, there are lots of great restaurants in Murrell's Inlet as well as a nice boardwalk to take a stroll on!
Myrtle Beach also has two dinner shows-Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede and Medieval Times.
If buffet is more your style and budget there's a Ryan's and Golden Corral in the area too.
Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

We didn't do Dick's Last Resort on our last trip because we weren't sure our little ones (mine and my sisters, all under 6) would be ok with it.

Ryan's Steakhouse, it's a chain, is good for family dinners. If you just get the 'buffet' you'll have tons of food, the kids will have lots of choices and a great dessert bar (my son LOVED this) and the most awesome, yummy yeast rolls in the universe. It's not a fancy place by any means, and not at all gourmet, but our crowd was happy with it.

We also had several meals at Sonic. Don't laugh, there are NO Sonics in our home state of CT so this was a BIG treat! LOL

And I believe there's a Five Guys down there now too, they have GREAT burgers!

River City Cafe at Barefoot Landing was also fun with the kids.

(BTW, for anyone with peanut allergies Five Guys and River City are NOT for you.)

One of my favorite restaurants on this earth is Capt Dave's Dockside in Murrell's Inlet. It takes us about 30 minutes to drive from the middle of Myrtle Beach, but it is so worth it. We eat outdoors on the deck instead of inside the more elegant restaurant and it is perfect for us: great food and wine/mixed drinks for the adults, a gorgeous sunset view of the inlet, a nice breeze, and a wonderful place for the kids to be kids and we don't have to worry as much about bothering other diners. The kids are mesmerized by the goats and peacocks on the little island across the way and the boats going by.

After dinner, we enjoy walking along the boardwalk and shopping in Murrells Inlet. There is a fantastic gift shop right across the street with an alligator in the pond!

Ahhhh....now I want to go back! :banana::banana:

We always go to Captain Benjamen's right on the North Myrtle Beach/Myrtle Beach line. You can buy GC also from Restaurant.com It is an all you can eat place, but we go for the early bird specials and don't eat lunch. I'm not sure if the GC can be used during that time, be sure to check. We usually hit there around 2:30, then have ice cream later at night as a treat. (once we have walked off the food at Barefoot Landing):thumbsup2

Greg Normans's Austrialian Grill at Barefoot Landing was our favorite.
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We like Crabby Mike's in Surfside Beach, or if you get a chance, go to Murrell's Inlet...there are so many great restaurants there!

We also had several meals at Sonic. Don't laugh, there are NO Sonics in our home state of CT so this was a BIG treat! LOL

I'm right there with you. We were just in Harrisburg this weekend visiting DH's aunt and stopped to eat at a Sonic because we've never been - there aren't any around us. We loved it! DH asked me to see if there were any Sonic's in Myrtle Beach so we could eat there at least once :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! I'm going to pull them into my spreadsheet and start making my dining plan :thumbsup2

I havent been to Myrtle Beach in years.....but our favorite place to eat there is Angelo's. Its Italian (duh) and its amazing. It use to be buffet, but like I said havent been there in years.......YUMMY

FYI- kids eat free @ Ryans M-F!!!! And here in Columbia, free @ Moes on Tuesdays. We were just in MB over the weekend for a cub scout outing. Broadway @ the Beach has some big name restaurants (Hard Rock, Margaritaville, Planet hollywood). We ate at Landry's. I thought it was decent, but dh wasnt thrilled (he had a cajun dish and is from Louisana, so it's hard to meet his reqs).

We spent the night at the Ripley's Aquarium camped out in the shark tunnel. Really fun experience (and I'm a scuba instructor who has dove with Great Whites)! Look into it and see if they're doing one when you're there.

Forgot to mention that there are coupon books all over. Check the grocery stores, rental offices, and CVS stores. Many, many places have early bird specials, but you need the coupon. That is the best way to save money.
