Sorry to beat this subject to death, but I'm overwhelmed by all the options! We're trying to stay 3 nights this summer at Myrtle Beach. I would love some advice.

2 adults, 3 kids (11,5, and 7). Hoping to stay somewhere with an outdoor pool and a lazy river would be a nice have. I have read so many reviews on tripadvisor, my head hurts. Everything from great place, impossible to park to my kids got lice there. Disney seems much easier!

Where do you recommend staying?

We stayed at Avista Resort in N Myrtle last fall, and we liked it! We had a 3 bedroom unit, and it was lovely.

My parents used to own at Seawatch Resort. It is also good! My SIL just stayed there and enjoyed it.

There's also the Kingston Plantation complex. The Embassy Suites there has a water park.

I loved the grounds at the Marriott Grand Dunes, and so did my kids. What I didn't like was that it's a regular hotel room, not a condo. But there are condos next door - they are Marriott time shares but can be rented.

We stayed at Dunes Village several years ago. Fun indoor water park. Heard other good things, but like I said, it's been a bit since we've been in terms of current condition.

I just got back from MB this weekend :) we stayed at Ocean reef. I picked it because they have indoor water features and its just a little too chilly for me outdoors even in a heated pool. Indoors is a pool, lazy river, and splash pad but outdoors is a cute little water park with a tube slide. there are also outdoor pools and inand outdoor hot tubs.

The room itself was fine. we got a 3 br angle, oceanfront , which is an awesome deal in the off season. The girls were thrilled with the balcony. The kitchen had a full size fridge, range, microwave and dishwasher.

We would stay again, and even pay the peak season price, but being SC natives, the off season is how we roll!

one complaint: there was not a blanket to be found anywhere in the unit but DH was able to get one from the front desk ( i dont consider those stiff bed cover duvet things to be blankets...lol)

We stayed at Avista 2 years ago and really enjoyed that too. I think the room was nicer/more up to date than Ocean Reef[ but the pools werent as fun.

Hands down: Kingston Plantation. Stay in the Brighten condos--a 2 bedroom would be good for 5 ppl. Has a little kid water park, lazy river, several pools and hot tubs. We love it!

Another vote for Kingston Plantation. We stood at Embassy Suites there. They have a lazy river and bucket, slide area. I also like the area of Myrtle Beach that it is in. It's quieter and not as congested. Further south its hotel after hotel, chain restaurant after chain. This hotel is set back from the road (you can't even see it) and very peaceful. My kids love it there. In fact last year they voted to go back there instead of Disney. This year I over ruled them, we are going to Disney :)

Kingston looks great but we were hoping to spend around $200 a night. This is a mini vacation. We save our big vacation for the mouse!
