OT: My fur babies are sick

Josie had her mouth surgery and CT Scan on Thursday and is doing well. The scan showed that the problem is bone growth of teh upper and lower jaws along with gum tissue growth. The good thing is that the bones in her jaws look "normal in density, normal in vasculation with no tumors but just too much growth". The bad news is although we know what is making her teeth shift we have no idea the cause of the abnormal growth. They did gum reduction & teeth cleaning which will help with the mouth symptoms but we have no explanation why this is happening. At this point I have been told I "have a very healthy dog with an inexpliciable bone growth problem that no one has ever seen before". So the best we can do is treat the mouth symptoms and keep an eye on the progression and maybe repeat some of the blood tests at a later to time to see if anything will eventually show up and indicate a cause. In the mean time, she is milking the symapthy card and getting lots of extra love!

I know that this thread has been inactive for a long time but I just wanted to update that Izzy died tonight. He was doing well and never acted really sick. He was purring one minute and rolled off the bed, took two breaths and just died. My DH just happened to have walked into our bedroom and talked to him and witnessed what happened. I wasn't home but had spent time with him today giving him lots of love. I am so sad but thankful for the skilled surgeon at Tufts who gave him way more time that he would have had. Thank you all for the support you gave when he first got sick.

I thought of you several times during the cruise, but I never could connect with you on the ship. My mistake - since I had neglected to write down your cabin number
