OT-moving to fla-need advice?

my husband might have a job opportunity in the fort walton area..i've been there on vacation but have no idea whether this is a place to raise a family? homes seem cheaper but what is the lifestyle like? im a jersey girl ten min out of manhattan so dont know if that life would seem boring for us..this would be our chance to own a home since its way too expensive here. all my family is here, allof his live in that area(a little too close for comfort for me) any advice?

They raised their family there, & their kids are raising their families there. We visited last summer & it's a great place!

My SIL/BIL have raised their little girl there...now almost 8-years-old. What you see when you go on vacation is a lot different than when you actually live there. Being from MS, we go to that area at least once a year on vacation, but when they moved there, we'd go to visit them and realized quickly that it's pretty much like any other town.
Now, it's definitely not Manhattan or New Jersey...much different, obviously, but there's plenty to do there and in the surrounding areas. And, IMHO, nothing beats the beach! But comparing the two regions is impossible...apples and oranges.
I think it's a great area. My SIL/BIL have a house on the bay side across the street from the beach, and it's one of the most serene places! I love visiting!

It's a beautiful area. It will probably be a big change for you, but I think you could come to love it. You will be moving to the South in the panhandle. In other parts of Florida, you don't get that feeling of a small Southern town as much as you will in most cities in the panhandle.

I also think you will be excited to find out how much more "house" you can get for the money than the area you're in now.

I'm excited for you just thinking about what a great adventure this could be for you and your family. If in doubt, just think about how much closer you will be to WDW! You'll need to get AP's.
