OT: Mousemeets 2014

Tickets have gone on general release today for Mousemeets 2014, the UK's only Disney fan convention. The event will be held between 10th-11th May 2014, at The Portland Thistle hotel in Manchester.

Brought to you by the team behind the Disney Brit Podcast, it's a weekend full of Disney madness. The last event saw some very interesting presentations, an animation masterclass, lots of pin trading, a charity auction, and a really fun guest speakers, last time there was a great session from Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy). There will also be a private movie screening of a Disney movie in one of the local cinemas.

I'm not involved in organising the event in any way, but did give a presentation last time on how to become a DLP shareholder, and DW and I always have great fun meeting up with other Disney fans over the weekend.

Thanks for posting, I got the emails yesterday and would love to go but we're thinking of getting a puppy in the New Year so will have to leave it this time. Hopefully one year.

OMGosh so are we! (Not thinking of it, we've been looking for months now and have found the breed suitable for for us and just waiting to check the breeders out. Even done our research for taking her - must be a her - with us to Disney!).
Though I'm tempted to go for this (have been lucky enough to he done a free things with Adam and co before) I find its more WDW than anything, not my bag at the moment *sad face* though they really are good weekends! If anyone can go, I recommend it!

It was in Birmingham last time, I suppose where ever it is held it will be too far for some to travel to. But I know at least one other fan from Great Yarmouth will be there.

It's all to do with the actual venue fees - these hotel conventions aren't cheap to put on and the venue hire needs to at least break even. I've been part of a company that used to hire Wembley Arena and Alexandra Palace and they are eye watering prices. Another company we worked with has a standing agreement for FedCon/RingCon/HobbitCon and the hire fee is nominal. A one of hire can cost way more :-/

We've decided that Manchester is too far for us and while they do and will have DLP featured, its not enough to personally pull me when I've got a trip before and then the press release in April.

Its a real shame we'll miss it as the DB team are fabulous fun though! Just not enough interest in WDW (or America in general) in me but others will really enjoy meeting new people and making friends

If your on a budget, Travelodge normally have their £10'sh room sale on over Christmas if you want to stay in Manchester on a budget.
