OT - Mini Community Shield TR (DLP related pics)

I've spent the day up at Wembley today (yesterday?) and came across one or two little things which loosely relate to this board, so I thought I'd post a brief report of my day - trip report style

Yep, just me today.

I left home at about 10:30 and caught the 10:45 train direct to Waterloo. This kind of made remember just how easy the Eurostar used to be before they moved it to St. Pancras.

After reaching Waterloo, i took the underground across to Wembley Park, which is equally easy as there are no changes involved, although being a match day, the underground seemed to struggle a bit with the sheer volume of people.

Once I reached Wembley, I decided that I needed some money for a couple of souvenirs, so I wandered off in search of a cash point. On my travels, I found this, which made my wonder if I'd somehow taken a wrong turning and ended up in France somewhere:

Quite what a Bonjour service station is doing in the middle of London I don't know, but it was fun to pretend I was in DLP again for a second.

After the slight detour to the cash point via DLP, I headed off to the stadium to watch the game. I won't bore you with the details of the match, save to say that we didn't win, but I enjoyed the game anyway.

After the match, I headed back to Wembley Park to get the underground back down to Waterloo. I decided that as I was in London anyway, I might as well take a slight detour via the gateway to the magic (something I often do while in London). So, a couple of stops on the underground too far, I found myself walking around the new St. Pancras station.

I've only had the privilege of travelling out of St. Pancras once on Eurostar, which actually wasn't on a train bound for Marne-La-Vallee - Chessy . I do think that it's a much nicer station than Waterloo ever was and it's really nice to be able to see the Eurostar trains properly. I don't like having to cross London with my luggage though, so do wish they'd kept the trains at Waterloo.

Once I was finished doing more DLP related dreaming, I walked out of St. Pancras and down the road to Euston (I find it easier to do this and get the underground direct to waterloo than to change on the way from St. Pancras).

A short nose at Friends House (the old looking building right opposite Euston station) was in order as it's not a building I get to see very often, although I talk about it quite a lot, before heading underground once more to start my journey down to Waterloo.

Once I reached Waterloo, I had a quick look at the old Eurostar area, although there's nothing much there now apart from some boards with Eurostar type stats. One statistic stuck out to me - 2069 inductees to something called "the half mile under club".

For anybody who don't know what this is, I'm afraid I'm not allowed to explain what it is , but I am puzzled as to how Eurostar know how many members they have and also how they know it's an odd number

I then attempted to head for my train home, only to find that it was apparently too full, so I had to travel home a different way.

2 Changes and just over 2 hours later I was home again at about 9:30, clocking up an 11 hour day in total

It's funny, I go through St Pancras maybe 3 days a week. i find if I am working late, I try to time my journey home to coincide with when the DLP arrives so I can see everyone in disney clothes and maybe even have a Disney conversation on my way home. I am really glad it is now at St Pancras as it saves us an hour each way when using eurostar (that's before getting on the now faster line).

I wish there was a Disney Store in the new mall (it would have made so much sense, but I think Disney have lost the stomach for having a decent Disney Store anymore, after all they are closing down the World of Disney Store in New York.
