I've been following the path of Ivan since Frances lumbered thru Florida. With 5 days to go until we're scheduled to leave, I'm considering cancelling our trip.

USAir is (so far) offering passengers on flights thru 9/14 a chance to reschedule with no penalty if they fly by Sept 30.

Disney is waiving cancellation fees and "no show" fees for guests due to arrive between 9/12 and 9/16.

Mousesavers.com has posted warnings and recommendations to persons traveling to WDW during the time that Ivan is expected to pass thru or around Florida.

The trip was supposed to be a surprise, so the kids still don't know about it. I think that I'll wait just a few more days until they have a better picture of where Ivan may be planning to visit but with every update, it's looking less and less like we'll be making this trip.:worried:

I'm in the same situation. However, my airline won't refund or transfer our tickets and so far, priceline will not refund or transfer our hotel stay. I'm at a loss. :(

Oh gosh, doesn't think just stink?!?!? I'm hoping the weather folks are wrong and it goes no where near FL. *wishful thinking*

Sorry you may have to cancel. I leave in 3 weeks...and I'm starting to worry myself!

mad4themouse, too funny we are leaving 9/16 and haven't told my daughter yet. We are also wondering if we should reschedule? How are you going to tell the kids.

I'm in the same boat too. We were due to arrive tomorrow, but decided to cancel this morning. Fortunately, we had also been keeping the trip as a surprise for the kids, so they are oblivious and only DH and I are disappointed.:(

Unfortunately, we will probably lose the full amount of our prepaid reservations (won through Skyauction, actually paid for by a friend...long story, LOL) since they are not cancelable or refundable. But, this vacation was a hastily planned, fly-by-the-seat of your pants thing and we had made no other arrangements or purchases so that will be our only $$ loss. We are planning a big trip for next year (with my MIL...her 1st trip! :hyper: ) so we'll just have to make that one extra special!! And spend lots of $$ to help Florida rebuild. :teeth:

May Ivan fizzle in the Gulf and leave Florida alone!

At this point we're still planning on leaving on 9/15 in the morning (USAirways also). Of course, hoping that Ivan fizzles or moves to sea or something, but either way, hoping it won't be bad and that it will a be over by then.

I did talk to WDW today after receiving a message about the Ft. Wilderness Cabins being closed (that's were our ressies are) until the 17th. The front desk said "they're trying to reopen on the 14th, but if they're hit again or are not ready, they'll move us to an upgraded resort, as long as one is available. If not, they're change us to another resort and refund money. Either way, they WILL have a place for us." Sounds ok to me.

Right now, we're hoping that the flight remains as scheduled and there's a car for us when we get there.

Our prayers are for those who have alreay been "hit" and for those of you preparing.

If you're flying out of Pittsburgh, PM me and we can see if we're on the same flight.
