OT: Marvel shows up in the Disney Store

Here we go ... it all starts with the merchandising!!!

Wow! Like any major change my mind needs to get adjusted to this. :rolleyes1

I'm sorry, that is just weird. Like someone putting gravy on your ice cream. They just don't go together.

What if it was chocolate gravy???

Mmmmmm....chocolate gravy. :thumbsup2

But that still goes on bisquits....not ice cream.

Why all the Marvel hate? I love Disney and Marvel.

Oh, cool! A friend gave me a gift cert for my birthday that is only good at Disney Store online. I was having trouble spending it... maybe Marvel will have something! :yay:

I don't get all the Marvel hate either. My best friend in college was into comics and read Marvel comics. Guess that got me into them somewhat.

I would look, but it sends me to the TERRIBLE Disneystore.co.uk!

It seems I can't look at any American versions of the Disney websites any more!

I'm certainly not "hating" on Marvel. I'm curious to see what Disney does with it, and it looks like this is the first step. I was just pointing out the Marve page in the Disney store, and how it's strange for me to see those superhero characters there.

I just got the email with the Marvel Comics link too.

For those who are not aware, the new Iron Man 2 movie will be a huge blockbuster. There will be a Captain America movie and there will be a Thor movie. The tie in to an Avengers movie has already been established with the first Iron Man movie and with The Incredible Hulk movie.

Spiderman 4 is still in the works.

These films and their merchandising are huge.

So how in the world did Disney wrestle them away from Universal???

There is the Spiderman ride and the Incredible Hulk ride at Universal and several other Marvel tie-ins.

Disney sure must have paid a pretty penny, but the revenues will be gigantic.

It just seems very odd that Universal will have those rides while Disney will begin to have marketing with the characters as well.

Could there be a fifth park in the works down the road? The most popular characters at Universal have always been Spiderman and The X-Men characters and other Marvel characters. Can they have them at WDW and at Universal? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Nope.

My DH is a big comic fan and is super excited to see some Marvel at Disney.

I am too, it will be fun for my boys and keep them into Disney longer! A great add on for that age range!!

Sorry if you thought I was referring to you. I know you were just passing along the info.

I was talking about the "something not Disney created =bad", and "Boooo Marvel =/= Disney" trend that was starting.
