Hey everyone - I am hoping someone here know soon - I made cupcakes instead of a shaped cake, I want to put them together to make them look like a tree. Has anyone done this? Do I have to ice them individually or put them together and ice them? Do I have to do anything special to them to keep them in place?
TIA
Carol

Set the cupcakes up in the shape you want them. Pick each one up to ice it, put it back down where it belongs, ice the next, put it down then spread more icing over the gap between them. It works best to use a stiff icing (not the whipped kind). Then leave it out for a few hours in a coolish place (if your kitchen is warm from the oven being on, for example, move them into a cooler room) so that the icing sets a bit.

I've never tried this, but I've always been tempted to use fondant and just roll out the sheet/shape I need.

Good luck and have fun!

I put a dab of frosting on the bottom of the cupcakes to hold them in place on the tray. And I agree with previous poster...frost individually then fill in the gaps and definitely use a "stiffer" frosting.
