I was at the eye Doctors on Friday and during the exam he said Did you know you have a mole in the cornea of your eye.. ummm NO! This is a new spot that just came up, it was not there last year at my eye exam and as a result my vision has changed .75 in that eye and I have not had a prescription change in 15 years (I had had glasses since grade 6 LONG time ago) He said to come back in about 6 month to a 1 year to keep a watch on the mole and see if it changes.. This is a new Doctor, mine retired this year and he took over the practice. I am not sure if this is good or not that he is new in one way he will have all the latest info because he just graduated from school on the other hand he does not have the experience that my older Dr had. I did some of my own research and the only thing I can find is that it is early ocular melanoma. Nothing else talks about a mole just being there and it is normal everything talks about it being cancerous.
What tests should I ask for or is the wait and see approach a good one. I am concerned about this and really don't want eye cancer (who does right) . I just think that moles should not be on organs seems weird to me. I know that early prevention and catching things is the key here so I want to be on top of this waiting and seeing how things go is not me.
Does anyone have advice, experience or know of who to ask about this. Is there a blood test I can get that will check for cancer cells in my body.. eek.. what to do??
