OT - Living in Tallahassee, FL???

OT - Tallahassee, Florida????
Hi. My DH found out that there is a job for him in Tallahassee, FL making MORE than what he is making here in NJ and we'd love to move to Florida, but know nothing about Tallahassee. Does anyone know anything about this area? We were looking at Tampa, so we know a lot about that, but really nothing of Tallahassee which is part of Florida's panhandle.

I currently live in Tallahassee and could help you out. What would you like to know? I can give you the basics. Basically Tallahassee is a medium size city with two universities as well as the state capital. Most of the city revolves around these two enterprises. The weather is HOT most of the year heck we had an 80 degree day last week but this week we are having lows in the 20's. In reference to these boards it takes about four hours to drive to Disney and you get all the FL resident perks and discounts. There are two hospitals, two good size malls, a civic center (concerts, circuses, kids shows and such), FSU, FAMU, and it is about 1 hour from the beach. I don't know much about the school system (my kids are too young), but there are good pre-schools. The cost of living isn't really bad here. It is probably less than in Tampa or New Jeresy. There is no state income tax, but property taxes are a little higher than other states. We are also not taxed on groceries and have sales tax of 7.5%.
