anyone live in this area? my husband might possibly get a tranfer.im a jersey girl so i know nothing of this area. also, all of my family is here. i would be leaving everybody. tell me about your relocating stories. do you regret it, love it?

Gulf Breeze is the town you go through to get to Pensacola Beach. Gulf Breeze is a little more expensive than Pensacola mainland.

Keep in mind this area is a military area . . . You have Pensacola NAS, Corry Station, and then in Fort Walton you have Eglin AFB.

It is a really nice area - and is right on the Bay heading to Pensacola Beach. It is finally coming back to pre Hurricane Ivan and I believe there is only one school group there (1 elementary, 1 middle, 1 high). There is only one way in and out of Gulf Breeze to get to Pensacola and that is the 3 mile bridge.

We lived in Pensacola for 3 1/2 years and enjoyed it. It is about a 6 - 8 hour drive to Disney and keep in mind you would be a Florida resident and could take advantage of the seasonal annual pass. Also, there is no state income tax in the State of Florida and you are close to Mobile, AL if you wanted to take a cruise.

Hi there! A Gulf Breeze resident here. All I can say is that it is wonderful! We have one of the best school systems in the state. The housing market is growing daily so it should fit whatever your needs are. We have some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida.
I grew up in New Orleans and moved to Pensacola about 15 yrs. ago. We recently moved to Gulf Breeze and it has been a great experience. I wish we would have moved here sooner.
The only negatives are the housing insurance....depends on where you live, and the heat and humidity. Since you are moving from the north that will require some getting used to! haha
please pm me if you have any questions!

There are quite a few areas to consider in the NW FL area. There is Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Milton, Pace, Navarre, etc. I grew up in Pensacola, my DH grew up in Gulf Breeze and we now live in Milton. I work in Milton (used to work in Pensacola) and my DH works in Crestview so we split the difference and picked Milton, lol.

Santa Rosa County (includes Gulf Breeze, Milton & Pace) has wonderful schools and most are graded as A or B schools. Like the PP said we are only about 6-7 hours from WDW, 6-7 hrs. from Atlanta, 1.5 hrs. from Mobile, AL, and 3-4 hrs. from New Orleans. It is a very military and family oriented area - there are 6 military bases between Pensacola and Crestview. It is a growing area but it still maintains a lot of its smaller city charm. I'd be happy to answer questions that you have about the area. :)
