OT - let the chatting begin....... CHAT thread

Thanks everyone. We have noticed a huge difference in Rosebug the last week, she seems so healthy, happy and full of beans. We now realise how poorly she had been over the last few years, as we have something to compare! :-( Fingers crossed this is the beginning of a settled time for her! Although, the initial bowel problems which led us to discover the thyroid problems are still present, so I guess that is too deep rooted to sort but things could be a whole load worse.

That's lovely news about RoseBug. I've struggled with my thyroid and before I had my medication sorted to the right levels I felt terrible, it's what ruined our last DLRP trip for me in fact.

Amazing how much better the right medication can make you feel. I can't imagine how awful it must be to have a child with problems like that - so glad she's doing well and I hope they can stay on top of her dosage well.

Just remind yourselves that right now she IS well (as well as she can be with other existing issues!) and this doesn't have to be the only time! She's surely on the up! Plus you know what her problems are, and they are being dealt with - it's better than a 'mystery' illness. It's all good in the scheme of things!!

Have some fabulous news about my DD! When she was four, she had a major op in St Thomas' Evelina hospital to remover her tonsils, adenoids and throat tissue which caused her to stop breathing up to 100 times a night.
Well, at 10 years old, she has passed her 11+ exams which means she now has place at Grammar school next September, and yesterday she was named as Head Girl!
All this from a weeny one who I was told might not thrive as well as others due to the restriction of blood when she was little, if she didn't have the operation. Faced heart disease, vascular dementia or early death in her early 50's. I went ahead knowing she might not have made it (two hospitals refused to do it, long time members might remember the trouble I had) but today she has surpassed even what I'd hoped for in life, and she's only 10!
Just giving hope to anyone else that faces these horrible trials either personallyor with loved ones. It's all worth it in the end <3

Bumping this up - can't believe it hasn't been posted on since last year!

I'm guilty of having not been around much - I started working longer hours and real life kept getting in the way then my mum had a very nasty fall and had to go into a home to convalesce. Thankfully she has recovered remarkably well and has been able to go back to her own flat. I've got another week off before I go back to work and I'm hoping to catch up with the boards and trip reports.

Hello Elaine

Lovely to see you on here! Like you I've had real life prevent me posting on here for far too long but I do take a quick peek now and then. So glad your mum has recovered from her fall and is back in her own home.

Oliver and I had our last trip back in May/June which covered the end of Swing into Spring and the start of the Frozen singalong but for a variety of reasons and for the first time in many years we haven't had a summer visit. We're doing our usual end of September, beginning of October trip for Oliver's birthday and Halloween though and I just wish I could let Oliver know. He misses DLP so much but he cannot handle anticipation.

Hope we see more of you on here. Any trips planned for DLP? You seem to have had some fantastic Disney experiences elsewhere this year!

It would be good to get this chat thread going again - although I don't think it will ever get as mad as it was a few years ago.

Im glad your Mum is feeling better Elaine - Ive had an up and down couple of years with Mum as well when she keeps falling/hurting herself and then loses confidence doing things.

Cherry Im sure Oliver will be so excited when he finds out about the trip - pictures you've posted of him at DLP show how much he loves it there - you can see the excitement on his face.

Elaine tell us more about your trip to DL - I won't ask for a trip report because I know what you are like

We are in the process of planning a December trip again so watch this space

Hello everyone, Im the same as you A small world, i tend to lurk rather than post these days.

I already have another trip booked in December, myself my daughter and my Grandaughter The babies mum (my other daughter) will not be joining us as she herself is going away hence why i came up with the idea of a Disney trip.
We'll be staying at the Sequoia in a golden forest room for 4 nights. Very excited!!!!!

Cherry - a shame you missed your usual summer visit but not long now until your trip for Oliver's birthday and Halloween.

A Small World - DL was wonderful, the castle looks beautiful for the 60th and World of Color was Are you going back this December or next year? And I am planning on doing a trip report I thought I would amalgamate it with the *ahem* unfinished one from two years ago as both holidays were so similar.

Poppie - how exciting that you've got another trip booked. How old is your grandaughter now?

Torsie - well, I intend to read your TR. I've got a week and a bit before I go back to work and hope to spend a little bit of time every day catching up on TRs and maybe even writing my own! Do you really think facebook is to blame or is it just that people are too busy in real lives? I've got a fb but don't go on that often so although I'm probably fb friends with quite a few people from here I'm always going to be quite a bit out of the loop. I used it to keep in touch with my DDs while we were away and have probably used it more in those three weeks than I will for the rest of the year!

Elaine - looking forward to the Trip Report - I promise I'll read and comment- We are planning a trip back to DLP for this December (would love to go back to DL at some point but will have to wait for that)

Poppie- Good to hear from you. What dates are you in DLP in December?

Torsie - I agree partially that Facebook has taken a lot of traffic from this board and the UK boards however I would never ask or discuss anything disney on there as the 2 things are separate for me
Im afraid Im guilty of reading Trip Reports but not commenting which I agree is disheartening for those writing them so will make an effort in the future to leave a comment- carry on writing it as Im sure people are reading it and you'll love reading it over and over in the future - I know I do
Its a shame when questions on here go unanswered - I think that tends to happen mainly when people bury a question in another thread. Ive always thought that the DLP board the best for making sure questions were acknowledged even if an answer couldn't be given. I tend to answer less questions now as my trips to DLP haven't been as frequent over the past few years (real life changes ) so I don't always feel as in touch and Ive seen wrong info given by people who are out of touch so am always wary of doing that

Whats everyone been up to this weekend?

I spent yesterday catching up with the housework and a little bit of gardening
Today Ive taken Mum out for the day to Knowsley Safari Park. She's in her 80s and struggles walking too far now but wanted to go out somewhere so that was an ideal place as she could just sit in the car most of the day. It was very hot in the car though especially in the lion enclosure as obviously we couldn't have the windows open
