We are home from WDW and the wonderful dining plan. Now DH says we are getting a family membership at the local aquatics & work out center. So I guess we are going to exercise!

My problem is I wear regular size shorts & plus size tops. I want a nice matching shirt & shorts that are Nike or the like. I've looked in Dicks Sporting Goods...all I saw was skinny work out clothes. Didn't have much luck in Kohls or Target. Lane Bryant only had sweatsuits (too hot). Any suggestions? On-line is out of the question because I have to try on.

Another Hoosier mom (and grandma) here....

Have you tried Penney's? They often have the same types of clothing in regular and plus. Also, what about Goody's?

Our Pennys here in Plainfield has a tiny plus size section. Hadn't really noticed any exercise apparell in there.

Where's Goody's. Is that a sporting goods store?

Can I be somewhat rude and ask why you need a designer matching outfit to work out in? You will be getting sweaty and it doesn't matter what you are wearing as long as it fits and is comfortable. Don't you have any t shirts and shorts you could wear in your closet?

That being said, it is almost winter and there are very few shorts left and very few short sleeved shirts left anywhere - especially in plus size (I need them too) Sports authority might carry an XL shirt but has mostly tiny clothes. BEst bet is to go to the Places like Ross, TJ MAxx, etc because they get the leftovers from the last season.

Or the lane Bryant catalog - order, try it on and return what doesn't fit.

Good luck

Ouch. Yes, I have jean shorts. But I thought a knit adidas or nike shorts with a matching top would be a bit nicer to wear. Plus I think I deserve 1 outfit . . . more motivation to put my new outfit on and get in the car and go work out.

Thank you. At least Champion has plus size. I thought somewhere I saw that Danskin has plus size too. I checked Nike, Reebok and Adidas and they don't make plus size. Someone could capitalize on this.

Thanks. I'll keep looking.

I think Walmart sells both Champion and Danskin clothing. I'd bet they would carry pooh, I mean plus size. I've found Champion knit pants in 2xl at Sams club before too.

I buy almost all of my clothes at Catherine's - maybe there's a store near you? They have wonderful workout outfits - tops & bottoms.

And I agree - when we're "Pooh-sized" sometimes a nicer brand than Walmart or a plain Tshirt looks much nicer on us! Sweat will wash out of good clothes. I have nothing against Walmart, but since I'm roly-poly, I spend the extra money for clothes to have them hold their shape and wear nice.

Good luck on your workouts!

Try Champion Apparel. Just Google it. Don't remember the official website, but have ordered from there. They have regular size and plus size. Love the stuff, it is affordable, comfortable, and gets softer with each wearing. Still use the old grungy ones to sleep in and do my nasty cleaning chores.

Another one to try is Junonia, a little more expensive must they have regular and plus size. Very nice stuff.

I am jealous, would love to have access to swimming pool, but where I live in NYC unless you can afford Manhattan real estate, there are no nice pools to be had.

So enjoy and have fun!

Thanks. I'll look around for the Champion. I didn't know Walmart carried it.

I think I saw a Catherines about 30 minutes from here. Never thought of checking there. Thanks!

I'll have to google the Junoni. Thanks so much.

www.junonia.com I've gotten swimsuits and other clothing from them, exspensive, but very high quality. Only do plus sizes, so they are sized better then average. Check out Juno's closet on the page, that's there clearance.

Me too!! I hate it! I have found workout stuff at WM and Target...then I can poke for a plus top and regular bottom.

I actually bought some at Sears and really liked them. I got them up in the mens dept. Just a thought..... :sunny:

I'll have to check Sears out. I didn't think of them. I think our Sears carries Lands End brand.

I ended up with a coral colored Adidas shorts today from Dick's Sporting Goods on sale for $20. But they didn't have plus size tops. So I ordered a Just My Size white top from Walmart online.

That's a good idea about checking out the men's section.
