So I am dropping my two DDs off at daycare this morning, when in comes a little girl who is in my DDs class (5yo). She is very excited to show the teacher her new tattoo. I am expecting to see a cartoon character on her hand. What I saw was a little girl pull down the top of her pants to expose the top of her bum where she had a very large butterfly tattoo.:scared1: It was a temporary one, but still!

I am curious, do you think this is appropriate?

eeew..I have an almost 5 year old and that creeps me out. I keep thinking about all the kids she will be in contact with next year in kindergarten. She is the oldest in our family just one little sis so she is still very innocent and I would love to keep her that way for a little longer. I know there are kids who have older siblings and they are quite a bit more worldly at age 5.

Nope!!!!!! Not appropriate, not even close! I wonder about some parents. I feel VERY strongly about children getting to be CHILDREN and not grow up too fast.

Not only do I not agree with a tattoo (temp or not) on a child's backside, but if my DD thought pulling her pants down like that was ok-we would be "chatting".

I shouldn't find that surprising, but I do. That is ridiculous. I'm sure she wanted to be "just like mom" or something but geez! I can understand that parents want their kid to be cool, or trendy, or cutting edge or whatever, but I hate when it crosses the line into sexy. I cringe when I see the "little girl" clothes at the store... I'm glad I have a son (who at this moment has about 8 tattoos on his forearms!)

To me this goes along the same lines as the parents who make "virgin" jello shots for their kids to have when they prepare the real ones for parties.....sorry but it is totally inappropriate. What is going on in the world that this is what some people are reduced to......is it that they want their kids to "be first" with this or that.

I better stop now before I tick alot of people off.

I wouldn't let one of my DD's do it but I feel that what someone does at home is their business. But if MIL or DH or someone let DD put a tattoo in a spot like that I would certainly tell DD that she wasn't allowed to show it to anyone due to its location on her body. And if she would rather have a tattoo she could show off she needs to put in on her hand/arm etc.

I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and would have a BIG problem with them doing that.

Oh the irony of "smart" goggle adds. Does anyone else see what I do on the add space at the top of the page?

well I wouldn't let my kids put tattoos there, but it honestly doesn't suprise me that some people let thier kids do it

:rotfl:

I don't think it's appropriate to put the temp tatoo on a little girl's bum!!!

ACK! What are some parents thinking??? :confused3

And I LOVE the ad at the top...I see what you're seeing!

ive let my kids (2.5yo and 4yo) have temp tattoos on their hands. but not anywhere else. so yeah id be wigged out at a tramp stamp, but a fake tat on the hand is no biggie to me. kinda like a stamp or a sticker, which are also fine by me. :confused3

I must be a mom to a 2 year old hoochie because mine loves her princess tattoos and wants them everywhere, legs, arms, hands, and gasp...belly. I didn't realize how risque we were! She tells me that Belle is "dancing on her bewee."

It didn't even occur to me that people would find this inappropriate, but then again, I see it as innocently as she does I guess.

Oh geez! Another reason I'm a bad parent. My 8 year old did "shots" with his uncle at the wedding reception. It made for some great pictures that everyone got a kick out of.
But I'm used to being a bad parent. He has a TV, a gameboy, a game cube, I don't homeschool, we occasionally go to McDonalds, etc. etc.

With all the concerns about child abuse these days, I am stunned that any parent would do something like that.

ENCOURAGING your child to pull down her pants? (Since of course she'll want to show others her tattoo!!!) So, you, a parent they may never have met, got a little look at the top of her tush. What's to stop a parent (who may be on the child abuse registry for all we know) asking to see the whole tattoo, so that he can decide whether or not to get one for his daughter? You get my drift.

What on EARTH were they thinking??? Whatever happened to "Any part of your body covered by your bathing suit is private. You show it only to mommy and daddy and the doctor!"
