OT: Janet Evanovich books

I have gotten into reading the Stephanie Plum (number) series. I think this is lighthearted, funny reading. I find myself laughing out loud sometimes. I am up to book 12. My, question is do you read the "between the number" novels? I read one: Visions of sugar plums, and was not impressed. I didn't care for Diesel, the guy that just appears and disappears. I am wondering if these books are critical to the series plot. Although every book is its own, I think you get alot more out of reading them in order.

Love the Stephanie Plum books!! They make me laugh out loud. My DH is from New Jersey, so we know some of the places they are talking about which makes it even more fun. I do read the between the numbers novels. I really enjoy them too (especially the most recent one Plum Spooky), but if you don't, I don't think they are essential. They are mostly side events. If you don't like Diesel, you probably won't like them because he is in all of them.

I read the whole series then went back and read the inbetween books - I wasn't lost at all. I liked them more that way I think because it kept the series going longer for me.

I have been getting them from the library- out of order because as soon as 1 comes in the swipe it- I agree they are a funny great read!! Can't wait for more!

I really liked Metro Girl and Motor Mouth, the Alex Barnaby series.
Those also made me laugh out loud at times.

Love these too!!! Not so crazy about the "between the numbers" ones either...it's sometimes hard to keep track of the...mystical characters!
I believe they are making a movie too! Katherine Heigl will be playing Stephanie!

EEEWWWWWW. So NOT Stephanie! As big a fan as I am, I'm not sure I will even want to see that movie with that casting. Sorry if I'm hijacking, but I'm trying to picture what actress I could see better in the role- anyone have any ideas?

Love the Stephanie Plum series, nit as big a fan of the in between the numbers, but will read them.

Have you read any of her romance books - some are rerelased from before she became famous and some are co authored - they are fun light reading. Lots of LOL moments

I am not happy about Katherine Heigl either...I really could see Sandra Bullock but she is a little too old now..Totally see The Rock for ranger and maybe Ryan Reynolds for Joe Morelli

Too funny- My 1st thought was Sandra Bullock too, and my second thought was she is a little too old to be Stephanie now so I didn't put her in my post. The Rock would be perfect for Ranger! I'm not sure about Morelli, but I don't think Ryan Reynolds looks Italian enough (although I do like him). Maybe Milo Ventimiglia? I see Niecy Nash for Lula. If not her, then Mon'ique.

These are some of my favorite books. I am glad to see that I am not the only one disappointed in the casting for Stephanie Plum. I may not even see the movie because of Katherine Heigl.

I read on Janet's site that her pick to play Stephanie would be Sandra, but this was a few years ago. Agree she is too old now. Janet Evanovich has a fan page on Facebook. I'm checking out her posted polls where she has listed a bunch of different possibles for each role. Fun to look through. I like Anotonia Sabato Jr. for Morelli, The Rock for Ranger, Mo'Nique or Queen Latifa for Lula.

Too bad they didn't make the movie 5 years ago. They could have had Sandra play Stephanie and then had Estelle Getty for Grandma (the ONLY person I can see in that role - it was made for her!!!!)

I can't wait for #16 to come out. While I am not really impressed with the between the number books, I really love the number series. I would love to see Betty White as Grandma Mazur.

Actually I looked it up today and Reese was who they originally cast, but it fell through. MrSheppo- you are so right- Betty White is perfect for Granny Mazur!
