Love it. Went yesterday with most of my family. Lovely day. Island Foods still hasn't come back. :( But I live about five seconds from their restaurant so I don't know what my issue is - I guess it's just such a CNE tradition for me. Goat Roti just isn't the same at any other.

SO GO EVERYONE. I swear I'll be picket in hand if our lovely mayor tries to do a thing with it. ;)

My niece and nephew did the new Zip Line. :thumbsup2 Excellent waiting position at the outdoor terrace/bar/music venue! :cool1:

Here's the length:

And the tower:

And some stranger doing it as I missed the shot of them. :rotfl2:

Could have been the Cosmopolitan I had while waiting!!!

And just some of the day:

It's a tradition for our family. Been there every year since I was born!

Good for you. Nice. :goodvibes

Me too. Such wonderful memories. Well no wait - I might have missed a year in Japan. ;)

Oh memories. The CNE just makes for some beautiful days. I live two seconds - Liberty Village so that's a bonus. There's free street parking in my neighbourhood for everyone! And you can walk in at two spots - Food Building or Princes' Gates.

For those thnking of going they still have their $5 after 5 pm deal Monday-Thursdays for entrance. And avoid the Princes' Gates on that one. Use the other two.

We go every year tool! We love it! Sadly we might miss it this year thou. Too busy before our Disney trip next Sunday/25th. :)

If you try the zip lining, post pics!

this week - it's been years, so we're really looking forward to it! Thankfully, the weather forecast looks absolutely perfect!:cool1:

OOOPS! Not all of the pics were shown on my phone, i didnt see the zip lining pics. My god thats really high up there. I would never! :faint: I'd seriously pee in my pants the whole way across!

Taking the kididies for the FIRST TIME this week! Can't believe I'm saying that, but DW always thought the kids were too young, and too much work during their younger years. Now youngest DS is 6 and hopefully easier to manage in a crowd. DS12 and DD10 will have a blast! (Especially with their same-aged cousins along).
DD10 really wants to do ziplining, and I'll get a good zoom shot of her coming down too! (I don't need to go, I've done that and more challenging in the past, so I'll skip it for great pics!)
It'll be a nice warmup to 'The World' in November!
Anyone else there this Wednesday?

Went on Friday for opening, a tradition with our family. The kids got pics with both the Honourable Premier Kathleen Wynne and our illustrious mayor.

My DD10 severely sprained her ankle the day before so spent the day getting pushed around in a wheelchair. Because of this and our upcoming Disney/Dark Side trip we decided no rides for this trip, which didn't sit well with DS8. As the French might say, "Les fèves sont dur."

Took a long look at the new Mach 3. I love a good roller coaster but this ride is observation only for me. My son offered me $100 to ride it but I know he don't got the dough to back that up.

Best meal I had, maybe the best ever, was at San Francesco in the Food Building. A nice veal sandwich with 2x veal patties, mushrooms and cheese. It was as big as your head and twice as delicious. Shared with the whole family and we all enjoyed it (except for DD who remains uncontaminated by mushrooms).

A grand day had by all.

Oh, and they've changed the layout of the Superdogs show and added some new segments, so if you haven't been in awhile (what?! you don't watch front-row every year?!) then give it a try.

Tick-tock was fun as well, though a little too French for my tastes. Some impressive gymnastics work, though.

Oh, have fun on your trip goofyintoronto! :thumbsup2 And I love your dining reviews - hint, hint. :lmao:

Maybe you could fit in a $5 after 5 pm. The Ex is so beautiful at night. And our weather is heavenly right now.

Have fun Tower. :thumbsup2 I love kids that are all excited about things like ziplining. We were twelve of us on opening day. And one was almost two and a newborn. I can't speak for the newborn :rotfl2: - but his Mama had a blast as did her toddler. But there were so many of us to take over for her.

I'm probably going again tomorrow night - for $5 after 5. Oh, there's some great outdoor sports play area - west exit of the food building. And your kids would probably love the dog show. It's fun.

I just passed by the grounds - on a walk to the lake - and the crowds looked like a perfect day. I would guess that the first Monday would be the lowest crowds.

Oh and have fun on your WDW trip!

Great post. :rotfl2:

Thanks for all this. I'll check out the booth. And I did sit outside and people watched as 10 of the 12 of us went to Superdogs.popcorn:: I love it but have seen it a myriad of times. As in probably 20 plus times. :lmao: And I think I'm underestimating. :rolleyes1 And I do back row for the comfort. ;) Plus, I miss that master of ceremonies that did it year after year.

So now, with your words, I'll get my ______ back in there!

No rides. :scared1: The eight year old must have LOVED you. :rotfl2:;)

I know that Mach 3 is something, eh? But proof of payment would have been a must for me too. ;)

Hope your daughter has a great recovery.:thumbsup2

And another WDW (and dark side) trip. You guys are killing me! :rotfl2: Have fun!

Heading down tonight with my wife and mom it is our yearly end of summer tradition

I'm pretty sure they're new this year. I don't recall ever seeing it before and it was a pretty large booth.

So sorry I missed him. :rotfl2:

That's twice he's been so close and yet so far - opening day there and opening night - Taste of the Danforth.

Oh yeah, I've seen the video. :rotfl:

But heck, I enjoy a nice, frosty bevvy myself so I'm not going to fault our "man of the people" for enjoying an evening out on the town.

You and me both. :thumbsup2

Plus, I miss that master of ceremonies that did it year after year.

So do I. My wife also mentioned that she missed him. He added just the right amount of "carny" to the show, IMO.

Too bad, so sad. :guilty: Bah, he's getting Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, The Hulk and The Manta in November. He can survive not going on some deathtrap put together and maintained by itinerants.

Hope your daughter has a great recovery.:thumbsup2

Thanks! She's already up and bopping around. It's all we can do to stop her from using flat-footed jumping as her primary means of locomotion.

And another WDW (and dark side) trip. You guys are killing me! :rotfl2: Have fun!

And thanks again!!

Video please. :rotfl2: Ie. I'm sure it's not as interesting as his comedic series, Fanboy. Or maybe - I don't know. :rotfl:

OMG, :rotfl2::rotfl: so wrong. ;) SO WRONG! :lmao:

Returned from my second go around around midnight. Took four pictures. :rotfl2: Here they are:

Yes, I entered THE FARM. :sad2:

I've been banned from there for a couple of years because I have a complete breakdown about what I just ate in the Food Building. Complete. A la - OMG, those goats are precious!

Oh no - the realization suddenly enters my mind that I JUST ate Goat Roti. :scared1:

And I break.

And break hard. :goodvibes

As I did early this morning walking to the lake. Just as I passed the Princes' Gates three PIG trucks rounded the corner - they're heading close by - and I know where - up to Wellington and their death and I can hardly take one more minute of my inability to become a vegetarian. :sad2: This cycle happens every year.

Okay, back to the Ex. :thumbsup2

I spent most of my $5 after 5 pm watching CNE Little League baseball - which isn't even inside the gates. :rolleyes1

Saw a little bit of Elvis. Had only a little bit of musical talent so not long.

The Farm. :sad2:

And my mom wanted to do the AGE GUESSER - :rotfl2: - why am I laughing? My mom is in the later stages of dementia which of course is not funny but I had to use a wheelchair to actually do the Ex with her this year and I was thinking "really Mom? You think you're going to win in a wheelchair and limited speech?" :rolleyes1

SHE DID!!!!:rotfl2:

:yay:

Year after year after year she is guessed younger than her age. :thumbsup2

Fabulous weather! :thumbsup2 Get going everyone! :goodvibes

Sooooo food poisoning for those eating at the ex this week. Yikes!

We were there yesterday, all 5 of us ate from different vendors, none of us got sick, but zero cronuts were saught, found nor desired.
Had a fantastic time at the EX too! DS12 and DD10 both sailed along the PC Financial Zipline. DS12 also took the helmet cam option with youtube video. Great to keep as a momento if I could find a way to download that same video.
Go the the EX and have a great time!

We were there from opening to closing! Even my 6 year old had no problem. So much to see and do. Great training for the long fun-filled days coming up for our first ever trip to the dark side in November. I'll be looking here for lots of tips!

I love the CNE! I've gone every year since I was tiny :)

Mind you, this summer is quite busy... might have to squeeze in a $5 after 5pm deal!
