... AKA ToonDude, AKA Jimmyknocker, AKA P-Fay?

I posted this thread on the Theme Park Strategies board, and now it's taken a turn for the worse. I've been called a troll, a nutcase, and Michael Jackson. I should have known that my non-conformist attitudes would not be acceptable to a Disney forum, and now this proves it. I am seriously considering having my account deleted in however way possible.

I appeal to you, my fellow VMK DIS people, to help me in this late hour of my need. I may have not been on long, but if things keep taking a turn for the worse, I may not be on much longer.

I would appreciate it if the people I knew through VMK would give me their IM names if they would like to talk with me off of the DIS boards and off of VMK so I wouldn't be limited to the accursed Dictionary and the unwarranted warnings. I think you all are swell people, and I'd hate to miss out on all the fun I'd be having if I had to give up everything that was Disney on the Internet.

Thanks, and I love you all.

Peter

Be yourself and just have fun. That is what it is all about. :flower:

The first responses were supportive, the last on the first page were less so, and I can imagine since you are posting here, it got worse. Advice? Forget about the whole thing. Don't look at the thread again -- remove it from emailing you updates. If anyone PM's you about it, delete it without opening. The DIS is a big place, and even if you received personal attacks, or people have called you names or may have formed opinions of you, you don't need to see or know about them. Nor do you need to care about them.

This tact seems more practical than a self-imposed exile, unless that's truly what you want.

Take this with a grain of salt. This is from a stranger, who does not know you, is not a master of personal relations, and who has recently permanently turned his back on another board for his own reasons.

Anyone who disagrees with these ideas, that's fine too.

Sadly, you've learned a practical lesson too -- there are many people on internet forums, with many opinions. And some may be very strong and pointed in voicing their opinion.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've been nothing but myself since I first appeared on this board. It's the others who are mean, insensitive, and wish me locked away at the Maison De Lunes (or Loons or however you spell it) for having unrequited love with Disney Princesses. Have you even read the latest post? :sad2:

No, and I don't intend to, because I don't expect to find anything in it that would make me any happier, and likewise, I don't think it could possibly make you any happier.

So why read it?

This is why I tend to avoid rather large forums and IRC chat groups because of such multiple opinions, which lead to flame wars, which lead to permanent bans, which leads to bi-monthly email harrasment to the webmaster that goes unheard demanding to be let back on the forum. I came to DIS because I saw someone in WDW who recommended it to me, and being the big Disney snob that I am, I couldn't possibly give it up, no matter how much money they siphon out of my wallet into theirs. :earsboy:

But don't get me wrong, Joe. There were a few people who were supportive in this rather bizarre thread of mine who passed along their PMs to me to try and help me out with this situation, like asking me to elaborate on my experiences and thinking about how to phrase my words. Then there are the people who are like, "OH, you suck. OH, you need help. OH, you're a nutcase!" It's those people who take an innocent thought and twist it to serve their own perverted needs.

I've already deleted it and all the other old subscribed thread notifications. And just to let you know, this situation was not unique. I had posted something like this on the RADP newsgroup. Their reaction was just the same as this group.

I read the entirety of that thread you linked and I must say that the internet makes people very UGLY sometimes.

I can't believe people would say such rude things just because they aren't standing right in front of you to say it. I guarantee none of them would say that to a friend dealing with the same dilemma.

I have never met you, yet I already have a bit of compassion for you, as I feel most of the posts on that thread were completely out of line.

I'm so sorry that people have no respect for others and their differences.

So what if you like Disney characters and princesses?

I have a phobia of eyes on potatoes, are you all going to make fun of me now????

This greatly disappoints me to see the state of humanity reduced to what I have read.

I apologize on behalf of everyone who may have hurt you. "Forgive them, they know not what they do..."

It's not like you were going over to Belle and asking for her phone number or slipping her a room key. I can think of a lot worse things I have read about or seen over the internet that people are "into".

Actually your orig post made me think of the old commercial where the dad meets Cinderella. The romantic music (so this is love..) is playing. Then they close up on Mom who's standing with her arms crossed.

Hey the characters are there for everyone's enjoyment. Wait your turn in line, and have fun!

I didn't read all the posts, but I think where you predisposed some people's opinion is where you said you're dreaming about them. I'm not quick to judge, but that tidbit of info did make me go "oh?" for a second. The rest of your orig post was fine.

Hey Peter  Nice to see you again (not under these circumstances though).

I agree 110% with GBShorts in which the internet brings out the UGLY in people. I think they say whatever they want, and tend to forget there is a human being on the other side of that screen who is reading this. I tend to stay away from negative energy (does nothing but bring you down) so I only read the first two pages of the thread. You asked a genuine question and it stinks that so many people reacted the way they did. You are not a freak and I commend you for standing up and even asking this question knowing how it went at the other place.
Everyone is unique and we need to cherish these things that make us one-of-a-kind!
I mean heck, I worship the ground Harrison Ford walks on and would easily pay the $40,000 his jacket from Indiana Jones is going for on ebay, does that make ME a freak??? (did I also mention I would wear it?? ). :rotfl:

If you do get that Indy jacket, can I wear it some days? Maybe an insignificant day like Thursdays or something? Please!

In all seriousness, I didn't read the original thread before it was deleted, but
BuddyGenie, don't take the criticism so personally. I agree with some of the above posts: people on the internet, free from direct social contact with others, will do things that they would normally censor themselves from doing. Because they think they are anonomous and see no social consequences of their actions, people on chat rooms and message boards will act in all sorts of ways they would never do in real life. In real life, we make friends with people who act according to our own social values and avoid those who act in ways contrary to our values. On the internet, we try to do the same thing, but the same freedom of expression that you value, also opens the door to people expressing themselves in negative ways. As in real life, find those people who have the same social values you do and make friends with them. Ignore those who act in negative, rude ways. Don't be so discouraged by the ones who are rude. I agree with MissBelle: stay away from the negative energy. :umbrella:

Thanks everyone for supporting me during that whole fiasco. I've decided, since I can't be deleted from this forum, I will stay on the VMK board and nothing else. I figure we're all characters on VMK in some sense, and we also share some B-type personality traits that the A-types don't on the other boards, so I feel comfortable here. I just hope I don't get any more warnings on VMK.

:maleficen -(Tell them the story about the Enchanted Autograph Book.)

(I've got a better idea. How about I tell them the biography of... Amber Sullivan! )

:maleficen -(I don't like that story.) **POOF!**

Wow you did get some :earseek: opinions....

one thing I do not get is why the thread was locked? Sales Thread? Guess I am just blind but what are you selling?

Mal

I wasn't selling anything that I was aware of. And to be honest, Mal, I never checked back at the thread to see it's ultimate demise. AFAIK, I had spoken to an admin and had asked my username to be removed from the forum. Since he couldn't do that, he did the next best thing and locked the thread. No sales of anything were involved, unless somebody was spoofing me and tried to get me banned by violating a rule himself.

Do you know exactly what the last post was?

EDIT: Just out of morbid curiousity, I checked out the end of that thread, and sure enough, they called it a sales thread. I still don't know why, as I wasn't selling anything. Maybe they thought I was selling a dating service? "Meet the Princess of your choice for only $150/hr." How ludicrious, eh? :teeth:
