OT Introducing our New Baby

Hello all and thanks for your congratulations. :) I will try and answer all questions. The car is made by Mercedes-Benz. And has all there latest technology. 4 air bags the car is basically a roll cage for safety. The coloured panels can be changed at the dealership in 2 hours, they are polymer? Starting price for this car is 16,500 Canadian. There are 3 versions pure, pulse and convertible. This is a pulse. It drives both standard and automatic at the same time. There is no clutch through new technology. If you are driving standard and forget to shift it will do it for you. Yes, Our dogs do fit in the back. One is a 80 pound sheppard lab and she can lie down in the back. We do all our groceries and everything fits. I was so amazed at how much fits back there. They were supposed to be available in the USA in 2006 but looks more like 2007 now. You can not even buy one here and sell it to someone who lives in the US. Had to sign a paper stating we would not. They make 1,000 cars a year right now for Canada. We got ours right from the dealership lot. We were so lucky becuase now with the gas prices they have been selling out. No cars left at the dealership. Maybe in other parts of Canada there might be. Waiting time is about 6 months for a custom car. The car is so comfortable and you sit very high so traffic jams are pleasurable now and for the long trips we take to work and back this is great. Enjoy. When I remember to take a pic outside I will post it.

Oh ya we named her Baby Car. Cause my Dh always said he was going over to the Baby car place. So she is our Baby. I think in Europe they have a RC version but not here in Canada yet. I hear they will be coming out with a four seater. But do not know when, they have them in Europe. Also did I mention that the average transmission on these cars last are 400,000 to 500,000 km. So this car will last forever :). Especially with the panels not being made of metal. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc And it is diesel fuel. Cheaper than normal gas right now. I heart my new car.

Can I fit that in the back of my truck?

LOL! Looks like you just might be able too! While I think the car is very cute (I am also partial to the VW bugs), I'd be too afraid to drive it around here.. way too many HUGE SUV's and trucks. I'd feel as though I would be smushed! That gas mileage is awesome though! DH is thinking about trading in his Highlander for a hybrid.

If you look at the car there is no front or back to get smucked. Also being small it is much easier to get out of the way. Also this car sits higher than most small cars do. Not as high as a SUV but same level as trucks. So we look down on the small cars and are equal with the trucks. And with all the windows there is really no blind spot.

I feel very safe inside much safer than when we had are neon. Also did you hear the results of the crash test on the SUV's very poor results. So bigger is not neccessarily better or safer. :)

Really? Wow! It must just look way smaller than it really is. You should pull it into your driveway and take a picture with you standing by it to give us a better idea of size!

Wow! Too cute! My first thought was safety (my daughter had a Metro in college and I feared every day for her life), but the extra deails you've provided just about have me convinced. I feel like we waste so much money every day on gas. It makes me sad to think about how many extra WDW trips we are missing because of it! $49.00 for a tank of gas=$49.00 for a one-way ticket to WDW. (Okay, two tanks if I want to get back home! lol)

Anyway, Congratulations on the arrival of Baby Car! Do you know how much 16,500 Canadian is in US money?

I looked it up and it seems to be about $14,000 USD. I also looked up the OPs original figures and that 22 liters would be 5 gallons for 380 miles. If that's right, that's sooooo amazing!!

You are correct and that is so amazing. I actually think the millage might be higher becuase we have a new engine and millage gets better after a few thousand miles of use. Engine has to work itself in. I will try and take a pic standing beside it this weekend. Don't you think this is the perfect car to have at the Mouse House. We even have floor mats that looking like Mickey heads. Herbie the love bug look out here comes Baby Smart :)

This is not the best picture taken in our garage. Introducing our new baby "The Smart Car" Sorry only in Canada and Europe" :(

Seriously this is a great car. Filled up the car for 14 dollars canadian the other day. Goes 500 kms for our $20 I believe that would be 340 miles per tank. The tank is only 22 litres. We are taking her to Disney figure it will cost us @ $50.00 US to get to Disney from Toronto Canada.

Just wanted to show you our little baby and she is, engine weighs only 70 pounds but she travels 135KM per hour or @90 miles an hour I think. Great on the highway as we travel 200 KM a day on major highways.

Maybe some day they will get to the USA.

how many cylinders?

My DH says 3 cylinders. Everything you want in a motorcylce only with four wheels and inside comfort,LOl Seriously we drive on major highways every weekday and have no problems keeping up to the rest of the traffic. Although it is funny when we pass a big car, like how did they do that. PS nice playing pirates with you last night.

I'm saving this to show my husband, it sounds like the kind of car he wants to buy.
