OT: I have saminella Peanut Butter!!!

Anybody know if you send in the lids do you have to send in the receipt, too? It's been awhile since we bought ours and I don't have the receipt. It doesn't say on the website that you have to, but then how do they know how much to refund (or are they just refunding MSRP, which would be more than I paid, for sure)? Anyone know?

They might just send you a coupon for a free jar of their PB (up to $x.xx amount). I'm not sure if they'll do that since it's a recall or not.

Well....let me tell you....I would have paid good money for that info last weekend.

Man, my family has been SICK!!! Dh went to work sick last Friday because he would have gotten his second written (one away from termination)...he took Monday-Wednesday off. Our family had 5 fun filled days of diarrhea, dehydration, and vomiting. We are talking one rough week. I think at one point I prayed that God would just give me diarrhea....you don't do that unless things are bad. LOL We all had peanut butter sandwiches for dinner right before it happened. So, after checking our peanut butter, it starts with the 2111 product code. How's that for bad luck?

At least we are better now.

Also:
To get a refund, consumers should send lids and their names and addresses to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078. For more information, call 866-344-6970.

I just ran to check our peanut butter. Well, we get Jif from Sam's, but I thought we had Peter Pan. Obviously I don't check labels very good! I still won't buy bagged lettuce anymore after that last problem.

We got a bad jar too! Our DS (6) already ate about 3/4 the jar. Last month he had diahrrea, but got over it. I hope he'll be ok! I just gave him some yeaterday! I had salmonella once - it's awful. Took me a month to feel all the way better.

I have 2 jars, does anybody know where to send the lids for a refund?
On one of my jars there was a coupon on top for 2.00 off the Cars movie, so the number is actually on the jar. Any ideas how I should deal with that?:confused3

THey just said on our news that if you take the lid back to the store you bought it at, they will refund your $. The news was at a wal-mart and people were standing in line to return theirs!:thumbsup2

I'm afraid that all the people who are sick around here, cold and flu season, are going to think it was the peanut butter!

The numbers are located right on TOP of the lid.

My co-worker had 4 jars of peanut butter, so she called the supermarket and they said to bring it in. They refunded her $2.29 per jar, which of course she didn't pay since she bought it on sale! Maybe you could check your local supermarkets!

Just heard about this this morning, and found out that we had a 2111 jar! Husband was having some stomach problems for the last couple of days and he had been eating some.... I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Feeling better now, but throughing out the jar and sending in the lid.

you can also check to see if it was manufactured by ConAgra on the label I believe, the Great Value ones manufactured by ConAgra in Sylvester, GA. The ones distributed by Conagra foods are the ones to look out for. Does your label show the manufacturer & place? Great Value peanutbutter also has other manufacturers.

Our local Publix says that if you bring the jar (or the label with UPC) and the lid, they'll reimburse you right at the store so you don't have to mail the lids to ConAgra. So if you don't want to mail in the lids, call your local supermarket and see if they're refunding at the store and see what they need to do it.

If you need to mail it in, the address is ConAgre Foods, PO Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078. The ConAgra website is down - probably crashed the server from everyone checking today -- it was up earlier.

FWIW, we had two jars - bought BOGO last week. One had been opened - I"m the only one who eats crunchy in my house, so it was only me eating it.

WE have two jars. All of us some of it last week. Well, except DH. When I told him, he said that's why choosey dads choose JIF.

For that remark he should have to carry a Crocker Focker around everywhere he goes for the next week.

I have one jar that I made a couple of sandwiches for DD10. I'm returning it to the store to see if they'll give me a new jar.

I first heard about the recall when I was at the hospital with my wife. She had a really bad stomach virus. As a kidney transplant patient, the dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting was a bad situation and she spent two days in the hospital hooked up to numerous IVs.

She was released on Tuesday and I decided to check the Peter Pan peanut butter this morning. Sure enough, product code started with 2111. The only thing is, we haven't eaten any of it in a couple of weeks.

OMG...I also have a 1/2 empty jar. :scared1:

Awful thing is my 3 year old had been suffering with stomach cramps, running off and finally throwing up for a week. Took him to Urgent Care last week and they couldn't figure out what was making him do this.

His tummy seems a little better now. I think he is on the mend. But I feel so guilty. I never thought that our p'nut butter could be causing it.

Guess I need to give the Dr a call to see if they want to check him out again to make sure he is okay.

Thanks OP for posting this. I will be taking my 2111 contaminated jar back to the store.

Where is everyone getting the Irvine, CA address? I checked the ConAgra website and their press release (Linked from their homepage about the recall) has an address in Omaha, NE. This is what it says on their site.

"If consumers have this product, they should discard it, but save the product lid. For a full refund, consumers must return the Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103."

I just mailed mine to the NE address -- hopefully that's correct. I mean, it's on their site so they should honor things coming to that address. I hope?

I checked this morning and found out we had one too. Of course we had eaten almost all of it. Told DD about it, and she said it was OK, she had been giving away her sandwich every day anyway--so we may have infected a whole town!

I saw it on a news release -- but I'm sure the NE address is fine from the ConAgra site (which was down when I was looking for the address). I'm just taking ours back to the store to save the postage and hassle.

Me too!!! I heard it on the radio this morning and when I got home I checked. Sure enough I have one of the tainted jars. I love Peter Pan!

I too live in TN and we usually buy Peter pan, but DH shopped last week and he bought Skippy. I'm sooo glad, poor DD would have been soo sick. Our Jar of PB last week was Peter Pan though but no one got sick luckily and that jar has been out to the garbage for a few days so I don't know what numbers were on it. I just don't understand how PB can have Salmenella??
