Hi All! I just bought the green/red velvet tree skirt w/santa mickey kissing minnie from ebay for $25-brand new! I'm so pumped cuz DBF and I just saw this exact same tree skirt at Disney's Days of Christmas in Downtown Disney for $70!!! The only thing is that the ebay tree skirt is one that was personalized (embroidered) and then had it removed for whatever reason. You can't see the imprint from the embroidery that well when the skirt is on the floor, and I know that I'll be putting our monorail train set along the edge of the skirt which will probably cover it up...but I just thought I'd see if anyone knew how to get impressions out of velvet?? I've tried spraying it with water and brushing it with a lint brush-that helped a little bit. Any suggestions?:confused3

Use a steam iron. Don't set the iron on top of the fabric. Just hold it above & steam it. Then brush the nap up.

Alternately, if you can't get all of the old impression out, try to purposely emboss velvet more with a new design. Take a rubber stamp, lay the velvet on top, right side down, and spray with water. With iron on the highest steam setting, place firmly on stamp and press straight down, don't move iron side to side. Hold down with firm pressure for 10 to 15 seconds. Remove.

A very simple technique! :cool1: Velvet that has been embossed will need to be dry cleaned, as hand washing removes some of this effect.

The velvet must be rayon or silk velvet. Velvets made from acetate or nylon won't hold the embossed shape for more than a day or two.

You can also iron velvet - but only ON velvet or on a "velvet board".

If you turn the right side of the velvet on the right side of another piece of velvet you can iron the back side.

Good luck!
