Hi- we are going to Hershey Park this weekend and we are thinking about staying at the Hershey Lodge. We are getting a group rate of $99.

We really don't need a hotel because we are less than 2 hours away but we thought staying the night would make it more relaxed and fun.

Anybody stayed at the Hershey Lodge and if so is it nice?

Yes we stayed there last year we were a group of 25-30 people we were familes with kids all 10 and under. We enjoyed it. They have an indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools, miniature golf (while not a great course the kids still had fun) the older kids went on there own to play golf quite a few times, while we stayed with the younger ones in the smaller baby pool, right next door. At the pool area they had a little building to do crafts. The boys went and played basketball. We payed alot more than you but were there last August. I don't know how much pool activity or other activities because of the time your going, although they do have that indoor pool.
The rooms were standard rooms nothing beautiful but o.k., they we had 6 rooms and they were pretty clean. In the lobby they had character greets, and a couple of choices for eating, from sitdown, to buffet, to take it and run breakfast in the am.

We did a barbecue type dinner one night, with the characters it was fun. (food just soso, or worse) but they had a character parade come in, they brought in some animals from the zoo and talked about them, kids danced with the characters, and they had a mini playground inside. I can't remember how much but I remember thinking it was worth it the kids had a blast.

We have stayed there before and I was very impressed. Everything is very clean and beautifully maintained. The staff is extremely helpful. Honestly, it reminded me of Disney! The indoor pool is really nice. $99/nt is a fantastic rate!

I think you will have a great time. Are the parks open? I thought they didn't open until May 7. I was hoping to take my kids there this weekend also.

I would definitely stay for the $99. We normally pay much more than that and always enjoy doing something the second day that is relaxing. The Hershey Gardens are beautiful and they have a butterfly house for the kids. We also enjoy the brunch at the Hotel Hershey, but that is quite expensive.

Have fun! We love hersheypark, and for $99, the inn can't be beat!

I stayed there, and it was very nice. $99 is a good rate.

After checking in, we played some miniature golf and went to the pool, then ate dinner at one of the restaurants.

Then we went to the park after dinner, because if you go in the evening, you can buy tickets and they are good for that evening and all of the next day.

I must admit, I did get lost driving back from the park to the Hersey Lodge. I even had to stop and ask directions. :faint:

It was late at night, and the roads are confusing, I think because of the shape/position of the park. If I recall, you head to the park on Rt. 422 West from the hotel. When you leave the park, you would think that you would go back on Rt. 422 East - but that's not right! You go back on 422 West also! But that is from memory - check with the desk if you are not sure.

I must admit, I did get lost driving back from the park to the Hersey Lodge. I even had to stop and ask directions.

LOL we got lost also. We had 3 minivans kinda caravaning together, with our DH's driving, communicating through the walkie talkies. It took over 30 minutes til they admitted they needed to ask someone.

We stay there when we go to HP and we love it!! I often hear people comment on the rooms being just "OK", but that is almost always from people who have stayed in the outside "wings"(outside corridors, you can park your car next to your room) of the resort.(I have heard they were recently renovated) When we make our ressie we always ask for a room in the "tower"/main building. The rooms are beautiful, and the beds are so comfy!! I would compare it to WDW deluxe hotels. So, if you can I would ask for a tower room. BTW we were never charged more for that location. I also think $99 is such a great rate, lucky you!!! We love the lodge and will continue going there. It has everything right there and the food is good too! We also just love HP!!!

We stayed there this past January and had a great time!! The rooms were lovely and looked newly decorated!

Wow $99? That's a great rate for Hershey Lodge. We stayed there in December and went to Christmas CandyLane. I love it there, but our room was $219 for one night. :earseek: I would definitely stay there again, but would love to get a cheaper rate.

I made reservations for the White Rose Motel for when we go in June and next December and got a rate of $65 a night. There are some other thread here on Hershey and this place was rated pretty well by other DISers so I hope we'll have a nice stay there.

Just wanted to say - I would LOVE to stay at Herhey at that rate!!!
The reservation agent I spoke with said no way woud they offer that rate - so lucky you getting that group rate - mind sharing how you got it? We have too many people so we would have to have a suite ($470 a night if you can believe that!) or two rooms @269 each - either way I can not hep but think....ess at Disney! Hard to believe but true. I don't think I will ever be abe to bring myself to stay onsite there now as I will be comparing the rate to Disney.
OTOH we have stayed at a place calle Fulton Steamboat Inn and it was VERY economical and deightful. It actually looks like a steamboat, has a nice pool in the front of the boat, a nice playground and a beautiful little pond complete with swans. I would recommend them highly.

The Lodge is okay and themed to chocolate so in that way it reminds you of Disney--that it is themed.

We like it there, too. However, be careful...the restaurants are very pricey. If you want a cheap eat, go to the Bear's Den (I think it's called that). We made the mistake of eating at some of the other restaurants and they are outrageously priced. Additionally, they didn't ever have enough wait staff, so the service was pretty poor. Atmosphere-wise though, it is very nice. It also has the shuttle to the park in season.

We stayed there this past Feb. and we were very impressed. Everything was very clean and nice. There were activities for kids during Chocolate Covered February. We live about 2 hours away as well and it was a nice getaway...you will be glad you stayed. ;)

I stayed at the Hershey Lodge several times during peak season and I usually pay aroung 230 or something like that. The Hershey Lodge is great - you won't be disappointed.

They have shuttle buses that go to Hershey Park. Also you have to try a chocolate beer in the Bears Den.

I stay there every Aug. In town for a skating competition. I have had the "wing rooms" and they are ok... I also have had a room in the back and it smelled of total mildew. I asked to be moved. The wing rooms were better. 2 years ago we stayed in the tower and it was much better. As you can see I have been going for years. Never paid 99$ though. I am booked for Aug again this year and $249 a night I think.

Make sure you ask for a Tower room. Much Better.. Food is great for breakfast in the buffet. Omlets.....mmmmm. The dinign room closer to the front door. More money but worth it. Enjoy...

: I can't believe I'm seeing this thread! I live in western NY and have been going to Hershey Park for the last 6 years. Our family LOVES it there  . we stayed at the camp grounds the first 2 yrs. then started staying at the Lodge, It is wonderfull. The rooms are great and there really is alot to do when not at the park. The pools are nice, the mini golf is fun and best of all they have a whirlpool next to the indoor heated pool so you can relax after a long day at the park, while the kids swim. And how great is it to step out side and smell CHOCOLATE all the time. :cheer2: :cheer2:. We usually go down the last week in June and the crowdes are not to bad. I would say next to the World, this is the next most magical place on earth. When we joined the DVC we were doubly thrilled to see that there was a resort in Hershey that we could stay at :cool1: . We are going down again the last week of June this year and staying at the lodge($199 per night) and hopefully once or twice more, My brother lives about an hour away we can bum it there (he he he...)If there are any questions about the lodge or the park let me know I could hopefully answer them for you.

We went this past weekend- it was great. We really liked the Lodge for $99. We styed in Peppermint Patty- our room was very nice.
That park has a ton of rollercoasters. Really fun. The Comet rocks. Lots for my 2 year old at the park too.
