Hello :)

I am a kdgn teacher and have volunteered my services to create the slideshow we will play at our Kdgn Celebration in June. Last year I had a parent help me on her own computer (a friend) and she did most of the loading of photos into their Power Point. They have this program on their computer as her dh is a doctor and uses it for work presentations. I can't copy it to my computer as then it would be only a 'read only' and I suppose that would be illegal anyways  .

So anyways ... I guess my question is if anyone has Power Point on their computer? How do I obtain a copy of this? When I went to the microsoft website it says you can have a free 60 day trial, but when I clicked on it, it takes me to Microsoft Office. I'm not the most computer "talented" person, but do "ok". Is Power point in Microsoft Office? Anyone know of any other way to create a DVD slideshow of photos without investing in an expensive program? Our school has Power Point as well, but I don't know if it is licensed to be brought to home computers. I wouldn't be able to do it at school as I would spend AGES copying stuff!! I'd like to do it at home.

Ok ... this turned out to be very longwinded, but I'd really like to start working on it now, as opposed to the week of the assembly (like we did last year :scared1: )!!!

Thanks for your help ...

Yet, PPT is part of MS Office. I'd check with the "tech" person in your school as they may have access to the installation discs. The schools I've worked at provided us with installation discs for the program licensed to the school, since they assumed we'd be working on classroom things at home.

Another suggestion instead of Powerpoint: Do you have any type of movie editing program on your computer such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker? You can drop pictures into these programs and set how long you want each to run (3 seconds, 5, ten, etc). I've made a lot of slideshows of my son that way.

My third suggestion would be to just upload the pictures from your camera to the computer you use at school and make the slideshow there rather than at home.

Good luck!

Thank you for that little bit of help!!

I checked my programs list and I do have Windows Movie Maker. I am going to try it out with the recent pics from our Disney trip on the March Break.

I am also going to see tomorrow if I can get Power Point from the school. I work on the Kdgn B schedule, so I'm not in until then.

I'm all excited now. I will be making slideshows of all kinds of things now!!! Wish I had time to start now! Do you know if you can add music into WIndows movie maker? I'm going to go and see right now!

Thanks again ...

I reccomend doing a google search for photo's to DVD software you will find lots and lots of it and it al comes with a 30 day free trial and is generally really easy to use I don't care for Windows movie maker it doesn't offer enough options for images etc.

Here are some links to some software for you to try out.

Thanks for those links. I went and created a "movie" of our pics from our recent WDW trip and it was cute. I had more pics than the length of the music though, which I think that power point was able to coordinate better last year. The pics weren't as clear as I would have liked, but it was still quite cute and I'm excited to have this new feature that I never even knew about.

Thanks ...

p.s. What songs do you think for kdgn slide show? I was thinking Let Them be Little by Billy Dean, Ordinary Miracle by Sarah McLaughlin, and if enough pics, maybe Amazing by Janelle. Last year we used My Wish by Rascal Flatts and I Hope You Dance by Leanne Womack.

What I do to judge the length of the music is look at how long the slideshow is on your PC with all the pics you want. Just go to the folder and run the view as slideshow and time it then you will know how long it is and you can add or subtract your music as needed.

if you can get a copy of pro show gold, you can make a dvd slide show that will be quite amazing. you will be able to adjust the transitions, add music, add titles, add movies and time your show to the music you select. You will also be able to have a menu and be able to add many different slide shows. it is truely amazing.
