My sister reminded me today that I have until the end of this month to decide where I want to go to for my 30th birthday in just over 2 years. At first I really wanted to go to Europe but couldn't decided between England, Ireland, or Scotland, but now I'm thinking of instead of doing a Disney Cruise. I've never been to Europe or on a Cruise so both would be special. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Cruise because then we could also go to WDW for a week or so. I just can't decide!!! Help!!!

I believe they now do Mediterranean Disney cruises as well, just to throw another option your way ;)

DH & I took the Disney Wonder 4-night cruise in 2005 with KAMommy and her crew. It was one of the most amazing vacations we've ever had! Put that with a week at WDW? I can't imagine a better 30th birthday!! :dance3:

The Mediterannian cruises are over. However a Disney Cruise is AMAZING. We are going on the 15-night Panama Canal next year. By the time you go one of the new ships might be out and there will be new itnerarys. I say DCL!!!! You won't be disappointed!

Well, it would be DCL for me too. We have been several times, and it is always amazing. The cruise line board is so much fun, get to "meet" others before the trip, get DISmeets going. Our last trip was the BEST due to that board, and learning all the secrets. And with a WDW vaca tacked on at the end...WOW!!!

Well, I think your safest trip would be DCL & WDW vacation.
Time are so troubled, I'm just too chicken to travel out of country.

another vote for DCL/WDW we did a week cruise and a week at WDW in 2005, the cruise is a blast!

They all sound great to me but I have to dissent with the majority. I've always wanted to go to the British Isles so I'd jump on a trip to that area. If I could only go to one, that's a tough question but I think I'd chose England though that would be a close call.

But the DCL would be great!

I'm defintily leaning towards the DCL right now. They had the one special on teh Travel Channel about it on tonight. I think that would be cheaper than Europe, especially the way the exchange rates have been lately. The only real concern I have about a cruise is that my sister is prone to some motion sickness so I don't know if she would like it as much as me. But that is the way I'm leaning towards right now. Will definitely have to go check out the cruise boards, but will probably wait until after our DL trip.

The exchange rates are definitely against you, that's why we all love coming to the US ;) If you expect to pay in £ what you would otherwise pay in $ that should give you an idea of what things cost over here. Any European capital city or major tourist town will be on the expensive side, but we've found its possible to eat quite cheaply in France, for example, if you take the daily menu (often 3 courses for 15-20 euro or $20-ish).

As for the world being troubled, I think if your number's up trouble will find you. Look at that boy who went shooting in the mall last week!

But I certainly can't argue with a cruise/holiday in WDW being a good way to spend a birthday, although I would be worried about the sea-sick thing as well.

I've never done either, but I do cruise on other lines often and will tell you I suffer terrible motion sickness, but rarely have problems on cruise ships. They are so big and balanced that unless seas are really rough it's usually okay. I tend to take a dramamine when I first get on to help me adjust, but that's it.

I'd pick DCL!

ABout 6 years ago my husband when on a tour that included England, Ireland, Scottland and Wales - it was WONDERFUL!!!!! Everything was included - meals, tours, room, bus - IT WAS GREAT!!
I am a disney nut - but if i had the chance to do that tour again i would be there in a heartbeat!!

:scared1: I was thinking about shops/diners/attractions being closed off and multiple airline delays. Totally didn't think about the meeting your maker aspect. You are right though, when it's your time, that's it.

I have terrible motion sickness. I get sick WATCHING the carosel.:scared1: I took meclizine on our cruise and didn't have a problem. Just don't forget to keep taking it when you get back on land for a few days.;)

I'm going to be another dissenter here and say Europe! Although I've never done either, if I had a choice for a big celebration trip it would be to Europe hands down. :)

I'd choose Europe. It's always been my dream to visit Europe since I was little. I've been on DCL and it was wonderful, but Europe is just so different with such rich history and things we don't have in our n00b country! :D

OK! I have made a decision!!!! :cool1: I can't post it here yet because I know my sister reads the boards and I'm going to hopefully surprise her with the decision on New Year's Eve, which is the deadline. I'll post what I decided after that. Thanks for all the opinions/thoughts!
