OT: Has anyone stayed at JW Marriott in DC?

we are going on a last minute first time trip to visit a friend in DC next weekend, and we are looking at staying at this hotel.
It is located right downtown DC, it is walking distance to most sights.
does anyone have experiance with this hotel? - how was it?

Ive never stayed there, but this is Marriott's Flagship Hotel and is in a prime location.

I did a million years ago. I'd stay there again, though. It is a great location for walking, but do keep in mind that DC is very spread out and it might be worth grabbing a cab once in a while.

Beautiful hotel & great location. It is very easy to get around DC on the Metro also.

I've stayed there numerous times. It's a nice hotel with great amenities, good location, and yes, the Metro is very convenient.

We just stayed there for 7 nights in June for our family vacation. We loved it. It is a beautiful hotel and in a great location. It is only a few blocks from the White House. We walked by the WH everyday and also in the evening and never felt unsafe. It is also in walking distance to the Spy museum and Fords th. It has a small indoor pool and a Starbucks inside. The museums are also close by. The staff was great to our kids. One night we returned to the hotel and the desk worker called them over and asked about their day and then handed them really nice DC ball caps. Also the beds were awesome. Have fun!!!!

Wonderful hotel and perfect location!
I would suggest eating away from the hotel though...it gets pricey and just not as good as some of the zillions of restaurants very close by!
If you want a wonderful breakfast brunch, try Cafe du Parc at the Williard Intercontinental 1/2 block toward the White House from the JW Marriott.

I stayed there about 3 years ago. Great hotel, close proximity to Smithsonian & monuments. If you have little kids, it might be a lot of walking for them, but for adults it's fine.
