Does anyone know anything about Hanover Insurance? I got a great auto and home quote from them, but am a little sceptical. Any input would be appreciated. The extra money will help on our WDW trip!!!! :cool1:

I'm pretty sure that I had this company for homeowners' insurance a couple of houses ago. I never had to make a claim, though. Their rates were good for us also. I think I was able to get an additional discount with them for belonging to a certain credit union, so double check to see if you are eligable for anything like that before you do go with them.

I can tell you that I personally know an employee, and dh works with them on a regular basis - what do you need to know?

I am thinking about switching my home and auto insurance to them. I just wanted to make sure they are reputable and no one on the DIS boards had any trouble with this company. I've been with the same insurance company for about 10 years, but am ready to leave because they keep raising rates. I just want to make the best informed decision. Thanks for your help.

My sister had Hanover's a few years ago for homeowner's. And they had to make a small claim about a pan fire. They were very quick to come out and assess the damage and to also pay. I don't know if her rates would've gone up as a result of the claim, because she sold her home shortly there after.

HTH

My mom had them for auto and was happy after an accident. They have her a more than fair amount when her Honda Accord (old) was totalled.

Thanks for all of the input. Hanover is a fairly new company in our area, so, this is helping me make my decision.

We have had Hanover for 10 years. We have had different claims over the years that went quite smoothly. My only complaints are that when a neighbor's tree fell on our house and car they made us pay two deductibles one for house and one for auto. The other complaint is that they just sold off my umbrella policy to a company who wants 60% more in premium. Right now I am pricing another company through a work discount but I will only switch if there is a significant difference because we have been quite happy with them. We have not seen large premium increases from year to year and they processed our claims very quickly.

IMO great insurance company...Had them for auto insurance for 12 years and the only reason I switched is my office sold to another company which I don't like. They were always on the ball when I needed them and my rates were REALLLLLY low...saved me hundreds a year.

What kind of deductible did you use for auto and home? I was thinking about doing the 500?

So much for liking Hanover. I got a letter in the mail that they sold all three of my policies to another company. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a reputable company but it is a no-name with astronomical rates. It is rediculous b/c other than the neighbor's tree incident we have not had any other claim in 10 years with perfect driving records. Now I have to get serious about checking into my work's discount policy. :confused3
