Halloween is on Friday this year and I thought having a party for the kiddos would be fun. However, after talking with some of my friends, they said Sat. would be better so they can go trick or treating. My whole idea was because it was on Fri.! Oh well, is it me obsessing?...here's my question...Would you go to a Halloween costume party on Saturday? So far everyone has said yes and that the kiddos would love dressing up again on Sat.

I would go on a Sat. It's the next day and if halloween feel in the middle of the week and you wanted to have a party it wouldn't matter if it was fri or Sat then any way.

Fri. are always a little harder I think b/c if people work, then get the kiddos and then rush back out some where else. Then again for me I am home w/ the kiddos so I could always go and have DH meet us there done that before.

Are you in a neghborhood where you could all go trick-or-treating as part of the party on Friday?

I thought of that but no, I live on a small dead end road. My plan is to do Halloween movies outside. I bought a projector and will put up a big "screen" over the garage. Some popcorn and hot chocolate, "presto" instant party!

I would go to a Halloween costume party on a Saturday (and I know that my kids would, too)! IMO, it extends Halloween (and extends the use of the costume). To me, it's more of a "Halloween Weekend" instead of just one night. Trick-or-treating on Friday and a costume party on Saturday. Woohoo!

However, I do remember that back in the 80s when Halloween fell on a Friday, a friend of mine had a costume party that night. I trick-or-treated in my own neighborhood and then I went to the party (it began around 8 or so and lasted until 10).

I would definitely go on that Saturday, but I would not go on Friday. My kids would be so upset if they missed trick or treating. If you do it on Saturday the kids would get to do both.

Personally, I would do it the Saturday before Halloween, not after. There's something so climactic about t-o-t'ing on Halloween night - I think a costume party the next day would sort of be overkill. But doing it before gives the kids a chance to test-drive their costumes ahead of time, and just adds to the build-up.

By the way, the party sounds way fun - Halloween movies outside???? Can I come?:cool1:

I agree....I would do it the Saturday before. In fact we are actually tossing that idea around ourselves.

We'd happily attend a Halloween party the weeknd before or after Halloween. But would not attend Halloween night itself.

My kids would love a party the next night!! It just extends the fun. I could possibly see my oldest doing a 8:30-10 party on that night, but he wouldn't want to miss traditional trick or treating.

Have fun!

(If you go the weekend before schedule, check for Fall Breaks. That is when ours is so a lot of people will be out of town.)

I'd also have to say the night after, not only because it extends the festivities, but because I'd be afraid of the Halloween costume getting ruined if it was warn to a party before Halloween. Some might get candy or drinks on them, stepping on hems and ripping them, etc.

I like the party to be after halloween. The kids get so excited for their costumes, the school parade, TOT, and it's easy for a costume to get messed up at a party.

We are doing the night after. My kids are very excited because we are having everyone bring the candy they don't like to have a "candy swap".
