We are thinking of booking a stay this summer at GWL. How close are the other area attractions? The Falls? The Skywheel? Maid of Mist? Clifton Hill?
Is it walking distance or will we need to drive and pay for parking? Thanks.

I would consider GWL in the middle of nowhere actually. To leave the resort will require you to drive. We do that all the time. We usually leave to pick up food for dinner and there is a Tim's really close by (by car) for breakfast in the morning. One time we were there, we were locked out of the resort because there was an electrical fire, for a few hours. Luckily DH had the keys to the car and we drove into the Falls area to walk Clifton Hill etc. We usually luck out and find street parking right on the hill or close by.

We found Great Wolf to be close to other attractions if you drive. I wouldn't suggest walking as I don't even know if there are sidewalks.

When we drove to it, it seemed as if you went through an industrial part of town. Once we were at the resort we stayed and purchased all our food there. Our standard room also came with a very small fridge (dorm size) but if we had known we would have taken along some food for meals. It also had a microwave. We did bring snacks of fresh fruit and junk, that we kept in our cooler in our room.

We only stayed one night and when we checked out, we drove around Niagara Falls and found it wasn't that far off by car but you would then have to pay to park elsewhere if you stopped to see anything.

I hope this helps.

Just as the previous posters have said, you will need to drive. Unfortunately, GWL doesn't have shuttle buses to the Falls and the attractions.

It's about a 10 minute drive and it is an easy drive - GWL is on Victoria and that road takes you right to Clifton Hill as I recall.

It is in the middle of nowhere on the gorge.

In summer, when the People Mover operates, the People Mover shuttle stops at GWL. This can be a great option to get to/from Clifton Hill.

I had no idea!!! I was just there in November and was disappointed that they didn't offer a shuttle. Good to know that there is an option in the Summer. Unfortunately, the prices of the rooms and crowd levels at GWL double in the Summer too.

We were just there last Friday. As the others have said, you will need to drive to other attractions. I just wanted to let you know though that this GWL is excellent. My 10 yr old son didn't stop smiling the whole time we were there. In fact, he said to me that this is his Disney (meaning this was to him as Disney is to me). Now that's saying something! ::yes::

Thanks for everyones advice. We were originally thinking of staying at one of the three hotels attached to the other water park, but when we heard that GWL was only open to GWL guests it would be the better option. Plus I think the atmosphere will be better at GWL and the activities, etc. Thanks again
