Hi All ~ I've heard from a neighbour that GWL restaurants suck....any reviews before I go? Thanks! Sandra

The food counters right in the waterpark are absolutely horrible and disgusting! We had the buffet breakfast and it was good, but after trying the subs and french fries in the waterpark we went elsewhere to eat supper. Like how hard is it to make a sub or french fries, but I'm telling you they were the worst I have ever tasted - we took the sub back but the second one tasted just as bad and went in the garbage!

We went to the GWL in the Poconos almost 2 yrs ago and my dh still rants about the awful restaurants, not so much the food itself but pricing.
Example:
1. Breakfast buffet does NOT include coffee. Still pay extra for each cup! argh!
2. They charge $10 for a burger but an extra $2 if you want cheese on it.

This is on top or their exorbitant prices to stay at the hotel. Also our room wasn't ready until 8pm. This is after they encourage you to arrive as early as noon to enjoy the waterpark while waiting for your room to be ready. The check in line was about 100 people deep from 1pm to 9pm and very few rooms were actually ready. They told everyone to check back later to see if their room was ready which created another long line of people checking back. They had the nerve to blame it on so many guests not vacating their rooms by the 11 am check out time. I've never ever heard of that in my life. :rolleyes1

We've been 5 times...not for the food. Restaurants are WAY overpriced for the quality of food. Breakfast is ok but the other buffets are far too expensive for the quality and variety of food. But, if I had to choose the waterpark food booth over the lunch buffet - go lunch buffet - it's just soup and chili and roast beef but there are nuggets and KD and pizza for the kids and it's only about $2.00 more for the adults and less for the kids!!

We ate at the GWL restaurant for a dinner buffet during our first stay. I thought it was NOT worth the money. The girls barely ate any of the kid fare, and I only sampled a little bit. I really wanted to bring our own food and get take out to eat in the comfort of our suite but DH said part of the vacation experience is to eat out. After experiencing the restaurant, DH agreed it wasn't such a great idea.

During our second stay, we made use of the fridge and microwave in our room. We also got into the car and went for a drive around town just as a change of scenery and went to get take out from KFC! The girls enjoyed that dinner much much more than that awful buffet the first trip. I had brought my laptop as it is free inroom internet and searched for nearby restaurants we could get take out from. There's plenty of choices nearby and quite convenient. We also get breakfast from a nearby Tim's too!! We're heading back to GWL at the end of the month, and we'll be doing the same thing again.

Hi All ~ We are at GWL now! It's just about bedtime. The waterpark is great! Better than Americana as far as slides. We got here before 1pm and it was BUSY at check in. However, our room was ready at 1pm. NICE ROOM! Whirlpool & Fireplace on the waterpark level....NICE! The waterpark was busy....we went from 1:30 to 4pm. Then we went to Basell's for dinner....it's a local diner....good food. We might have the breakky buffet here....but with my diet...it's hardly worth it....I will only eat fruit and a little toast. We will enjoy the room until check out and then do the water park until the afternoon. Blessings all! Sandra

PS: Breakky buffet is 14.99 for adults, 7.99 for kids to 12 years old and 3 and under are free.

Good Morning....I just had a jacuzzi! We are going to have a bit of breakky, enjoy the room until check out and then waterpark! We decided not to have the buffet breakky.....we just don't eat enjoy for that. This is lovely place. It's a little bit of a Disney fix. Blessings, S
