OT-Great article I thought I would share

Great Article. Thanks for sharing. I know a few princes and princesses and yes... they are having some problems out there with the "commoners" where they are not the center of the universe. :confused3

I have definitely met this type of child in the classroom and regular life. I disagree with some of what the article had to say, though.

*In the article, these spoiled children are said to often be picky eaters because the parents let them eat whatever they want even if it's not what the parents are eating. I was a picky eater as a child (and still am to some degree). I can remember being forced to eat things I didn't want to. It didn't make me like the food and it didn't make me "behave" better. I was always a quiet, good child. My memories of being forced to eat those foods are still with me. My middle child is extrememly picky. His two sisters will eat almost anything. I don't force him to eat things he has a strong aversion to. We've worked it out that he has to eat something healthy, but it doesn't always have to be what the rest of us are having. I don't cook an entirely separate meal; he gets a sandwich or something if he doesn't like what's for dinner.

*I am not raising my children in a Parent-Centered household, but neither is it a Child-Centered one. We consider our life to be Family-Centered. DH and I take the kids into account when we make decisions, but they don't have the final say. I believe that raising kids to want to grow up and be responsible so that their lives are better sounds cruel. I want my kids to enjoy being whatever age they are at the moment, while looking forward to what the future holds.
