Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl.

Started reading this book last night and could NOT put it down. Loosely speaking, it's a murder mystery but is uncommonly well-written and is teeming with "big" ideas. Do not want to give anything away but it is written from the perspective of an intellectual (and lonely) 16-17 year old girl attending her senior year of high school at a private college prep school. Absolutely the best pop-lit (dare I say chick-lit? naaah -- not really) book I've read in years -- maybe ever.

I've got a friend who would love this I'll pass on the tip.:thumbsup2
Myself - I'm in to- David Sedaris & Christopher Moore

Hey check out her web site - It's kinda trippy!

Wally! I knew we got along!

Sedaris is great, but Moore is in my top favorite authors! Gotta love "Lamb" and all the rest.

I also love the mysteries, horror and thriller genre so how does that fit?

This is a wonderful, wonderful book. You might really enjoy an interview with the author from the public radio program Studio 360. You can stream the interview online at http://www.studio360.org/episodes/2006/09/01

Thank you Tampa Guys !!! I will check it out! and WallyB -- totally love David Sedaris's Christmas story about being a Department Store Elf -- so cuts through the usual holiday treacle and is SO funny. :rotfl2: I've seen Me Talk Pretty Some Day but haven't read it -- methinks I'll takes meself over to B&N online and see if I can redeem my Christmas gift-card.:thumbsup2

Check out Christopher Moore if you're so inclined.
He's got a kind of twisted look at the world.:dance3:
