My son really isn't into parties and I'm not sure a 'get together' of family and friends would be to his liking either - I could be wrong though. I think he'd prefer just to go out for a nice meal somewhere that he hasn't been before.
Open house was great we just said from 4pm til 9ish (people were travelling and it was work for them all the next day) and people just came and went as they pleased, had a drink, food and some cake - everyone commented on how much nicer it was not being restricted to a particular time and more importantly everyone who was special to the girls was there.
I see what you mean..... I'm sure he'll suggest something he wants though!
It is lovely to not have something super restrictive for a party.... One of my friends had an 18th and it was beyond a joke- A couple of people did some VERY stupid things, someone went missing, loads of people gatecrashed... My friend had an ace time because everyone else dealt with it (Mainly her older stepbrothers who were on bouncer duty!).... I was one of the few sober people so I had to sit with the, erm, 'Happy' people (If you get what I mean by that!) and it was just a lot of work..... If she'd had it at home it would have been much nicer, but because it was in a pub everyone just showed up....
