We are hoping to take a trip this fall to the Gatlinburg area. We are interested in renting a cabin that would be suitable for 3 or 4 adults and 1 child to stay at. We would like it to be somewhat budget-wise (about 100 or so per night~ is that realistic? ) It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but we would like it to have kitchen areas and also to be clean. We would like it to be in a somewhat secluded area, but also close enough to the attractions in that area as well. Anyone have a special place they could recommend?
Thanks!!

I think Copeland Creek Log Cabins may be just what you're looking for. We've stayed there 5-6 times. It's very secluded, only a short drive to the trolly stop (with free parking) and the trolly takes you into town. We always request the cabin at the top of the mountain, but there are some in the valley as well. The cabin on the top has a bedroom downstairs, and bedroom upstairs, and a bed in the loft area. There is a huge front porch with swings and rockers, there is a jacuzzi tub inside (no hot tub outside). It's very clean and well kept. It's not advertised too much, the people at the country store at the end of the road own the cabins and you pick up your key there. Fall is "peak" season, so call early. We were there last year for Thanksgiving and I think the rate was $110.00 per night. Well worth it.

The number to the store is (865)436-6143.

Do you need it to be in Gaitlinburg? We stayed in a cabin about 6 miles outside of Dollywood. Its a little more than you want to pay per night but we also went in October which is peak time.

If you are interested, I can give you the info.

Another great place to find cabins is vrbo dot com.

Good Luck!

Well we don't actually need to be in Gatlinburg I don't imagine. I was just using it as a generic term of the area we wanted to be. I would love to have the info you are talking about. That place sounds nice as well.

This sounds just like the type of place we are looking for. I will definately check it out. If you have any other tidbits like restuarants and sights we need to visit I would love to know.
Thanks!

My BIL and Sister usually used thechaletcompany.com. My mom said that where she works suggests StonyBrooklodging.com. We were looking a few months ago for R&R and decided to to Disney instead (LOL) that is how I know about those 2.

It's beautiful up there. We've stayed in nicer cabins that were closer to town, but a lot more expensive and you still have to drive. Parking is a premium in town. But parking is free at the trolly place and I think it's 50 cents to ride the trolly. The cabins on the mountain are very secluded, the ones in the valley are pretty close together, but I think there are only 6 cabins total.

As far as sights, we like to go to Ober Gatlinburg, you can ride the ski lift from town up to Ober Gatlinburg. They have an awesome Alpine Slide that is fun, as well as other things too. We also always go to Clingman's Dome. It's the highest point east of the Rockies, I think. It's a nice paved walk up to the look out tower, or you can take the nature trail (rougher walk). The views from there, especially in the fall, are simply amazing.

We usually have to eat at the Smoky Mountain Brewery, right across from the downtown entrance to Ober Gatlinburg. My DH is a fan of their trout. Other than that, most places are typical tourist type places (Hard Rock, Applebee's, etc.) Although they say Pigeon Forge is only 6 miles away, be aware that it can take 2 hours to go that 6 miles, trust me on that one!!

Hope I've helped, and hope you have a great trip!

I have to disagree with some of pp's comments. There are plenty of great places to eat that are not chains. We love Bennetts BBQ, log cabin pancake house, Huck Finns catfish and plenty others.

Also, we usually stay around pidgeon forge and it has NEVER taken us anywhere close to 2 hours to drive between Gatlinburg and back.

We enjoy putt putt, go carts, outlet shopping, driving thru the Smokies. Enjoy!

We stayed closer to Dollywood last year in a cabin through Great Outdoor Rentals. We had no problems with them. This year over spring break we stayed in Cobbly Nob through Greenbriar Valley Realty and THAT cabin (Lone Wolf Lodge) was perfect. I love, love, love Cobbly Nob. LOVE IT!

ETA that during the Rod Run car shows, it CAN take that long to go between towns. We married there during the September Rod Run (didn't know about it until we were there) and it took every bit of two hours to get through PF and into GB. Lack of planning our part. Ya live, ya learn. lol

How close is this to Gatlinburg....

According to their website, it's about 10 miles from the Parkway on Hwy 321. I never timed the drive but, it didn't take very long at all.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Now I just have to research them out and figure out where we can stay. Thanks again! You guys are great!!!
