OT: Flat Stanley school project need help

Wow...Flat Stanley...there's a name from my past! LOL!!! I remember reading "Flat Stanley" back in elementary school....back in the 70's! I LOVED Flat Stanley. It was a story in our group reading book. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

How cool is that. The Today Show has always been my favorite morning show. Are you from KY? I'm in Northern KY.

.
I live in Greenup, Ky. It's reallly small, over in Eastern Ky. I'm from Northern Ky though.....Cynthiana. What about you?

I'll see if I can scan a few of Stanley's pics from his trip and post them in the next few days.

Wow - my DS got a Flat Stanley on Monday, was told to take him someplace and write a story about the adventure - due on Thursday. No time to take him anywhere out of the neighborhood. So, Stanley went on a walk and almost flew away in the big winds....

Wish we had a more creative teacher or a teacher who gave us things with enough notice.

We saw Flat Stanley at the Camden NJ Aquarium last week!

Have fun everyone! Sounds like it's as much fun as you make it. :)

I live in Plymouth, MA.
You can send him here and he can visit the rock and the Mayflower.

PM me for my address.

Sue

We are in the middle of Flat Stanley too!

My DS sent his to my friends out in Hollywood, CA! We can't wait until returns home and we can read about his adventures!

My daughter did Flat Stanley last year in school, her Flat went to North Carolina and went on an Easter Egg Hunt and met the Easter Bunny.

If you still need a host family, we would be more than happy. We live in VA and could take him to the Battlefield for some fun pictures. We are also leaving on April 11th on the train to Disney. Not sure when he needs to be returned from his trip, but I could mail him either back from Disney or VA, we return on the 20th. :cool1:

I live in Central Florida, and would be happy to take Stanley to "The World" for your son if you would like. If you are interested, PM me and let me know, we go often.....

I had to chuckle when I saw your post...I was the "tour guide" for my friend and her two daughters a few years ago at Disney, and we had to take Flat Stanley on our trip....all the CMs, characters, were nice enough to oblige us with photos with Flat Stanley.

Although I will say, the little skinny, flat guy was a little difficult to keep up with ! ha ha

The greatest thing was that was her assigned homework for the week since she missed school!

Just adding my invite for Stanley to visit us in Ohio. It isn't nearly as exciting as a celebrity visit or a trip to WDW, but we'd treat him well!

;)

DB had to do this when he was in elementary school so my mom took Flat Stanley to work (she's a nurse) and they took pics of him on a stretcher, with a gown on and hooked up to an IV. They put bandaids and gauze on him...the whole nine. Everyone really got into it! A cousin of mine did the same and Flat Stanley went all over...sleepovers, vacations, plane trips. They kept it going for a little while even after the project was over. Have fun! :goodvibes

My DD had to do a Flat Stanley project last year and we made a bunchies of copies of Stanley...about 20 total. We sent him to celebrities just to see what would happen. We got a big box of suff from the Today Show. It had pictures of all the anchors holding Stanley, a coffee mug, a hat and a shirt. We also got something back from Tubby Smith (University of Kentucky's basketball coach), Harlem Globetrotters, The White House, The Governor of Kentucky, Donald Trump and a few others. Everyone didn't respond but quite a few did. My DD was the hit of her class. Everyone loved seeing the cool stuff she got back. I just googled them until I found an address. It was alot of fun and I would highly recommend it.:goodvibes

That is such a cool idea! DS10 did Flat Stanley in 2nd grade. Now in 4th, DS10 has a paper Bear that is floating around the US now. Luckily we had friends and family that was willing to help.

I am glad you found someone but I wouldnt get hung up on the sending it out of town, it is cool but even if you sent it to Uncle Joe across town if he can do somehting cool with it that is all that matters. You may find some cool stuff about your town that you never knew:thumbsup2

We had to have Stanley here first and we took him on errands with us for the day, he rode in the shopping cart, got a haircut, went to the driving range, went out to lunch etc.

Than we sent him to my aunt in Tampa. She is guidance counselor for a grade school, so Stanley visited with other 2nd grade classes and was even prinicpal for the day. It was cute.

This has been so interesting to read. Flat Stanley is on his way to Michigan (thank you mnasmom3). Thank you all for your offers & advice. DIS parents are the best :thumbsup2

Oh, I hope my younger ones get to do Flat Stanley. We had a great time w/my older DD. BIL took him skiiing & snowboarding - the pics were hilarious! Then Stanley went south to warm up in the Keys w/cousin Tom. Things are too laid back down there- we didn't see Stanley again until he finally returned home a year later! :rotfl:

I live in Greenup, Ky. It's reallly small, over in Eastern Ky. I'm from Northern Ky though.....Cynthiana. What about you?

I grew up in Southgate a small town in Campbell County. And now I live in Taylor Mill, one county over in Kenton County.

I figured when you sent a flat stanley to UK and the KY governor you must be from KY ;)

My DD had the Flat Stanley project a couple of years ago. We sent him to DD's uncle in San Francisco. We got loads of pix back with Stanley visiting all of San Fran's best tourist spots. It was too cute!!!

My son's Flat Stanley went with some co-workers to Taiwan and rode in a helicopter.

Incredible trip, right ?

Not all that impressive to the kindergarten class. All the class remembers of our Stanley's trip, meeting a Stanley from Ohio and having their picture taken together in a first class airplane seat...LOL

It is funny what the kids find memorable....

DS is only 5, but the Easter Bunny put the book "Flat Stanley" in his basket, so I'll read it to him. I hope his school does this in 2nd grade too, it sounds like fun! There are a lot of creative people here, I am impressed with your ideas :worship:

How funny! My ds7 just finished this project. When my ds11 was in 2nd grade, we were able to send it to my cousin in Pensacola. He took FS to a really cool air force museum and sent our school some really awesome pictures. My cousin and his wife just had their 3rd baby so I didn't want to bother them for younger ds.
Luckily dh and I were taking our 1st ever trip w/o kids for dh's big bday. (4 nt. cruise to Cozumel w/6 friends) so we took FS along. At first our friends though it was strange but after a while we had so many laughs and pictures of them posing w/FS. We taped him to a beach chair in Mexico and relaxing on a chair by the pool on the ship. Even found 2 guys dressed like ancient Mayans (skimpy loin-cloth, body paint, feather head-dress, etc.) and tipped them $2 to pose with FS.
Ds7 loved the pictures and we ended up printing extra copies of the FS pictures and put them into our photo album.:rotfl:

If anyone ever needs a place to send their FS, we'll take him!! (Battleship NJ, Liberty Bell, Franklin Institute, beach, plenty of good places to visit!)
