This new storm system coming this weekend looks like it's bringing some much needed rain - cross your fingers! It's SO dry here....The only bad thing is when it goes over to the gulf side, I sure hope it doesn't strengthen into something and then head back toward us! :teeth:

Tropical Wave Continues To Get Better Organized

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are closely watching a tropical disturbance in the northeastern Bahamas that is continuing to track toward Florida.

"It's showing signs of development at this point. It's slightly better organized, and I'm expecting it to head toward Florida during the weekend," WESH 2 meteorologist Ivan Cabrera said.

The National Hurricane Center is expected to send an aircraft to investigate the system on Saturday if it continues to show signs of development. The bulk of the thunderstorms is currently on the eastern side of the tropical wave, but they are beginning to wrap around the center of the storm, and that could help it continue to intensify, Cabrera said.

Cabrera also said a high-pressure system is expected to pick up the wave and push it quickly westward over the Gulf Stream, and that could help it strengthen into a tropical depression.

"The system is heading toward a less-hostile environment as far as the water temperatures and upper-level winds," Mainolfi said.

While the system will likely become a tropical depression, it is not expected to become a strong tropical storm or hurricane before making landfall.

The chance of rain will increase Saturday to 60 percent across Central Florida, and there's a 70 percent rain chance on Sunday and Monday.

I sure hope we get the rain. We did have a family day at TL planned but I'll take the rain. We need it badly.

I'm not holding my breath. I think we got about 10 raindrops from Alberto :sad2: Our palms are crispy-fried right now :(

I hope it rains all weekend. We need it and I love rainy days. :teeth:

Of course it will. How do I know for sure? Because out-of-state friends are coming to visit (they arrive Sunday) and go to the parks, that's why!!!!
