I saw a commercial last evening for a computer game that has a bike attachment the child was peddling to pick up numbers and letters.

Has anyone bought this and what do you think?

I saw this the other day in Toys R Us...they had one set up as a demo that kids could try out. There was a line to get on it (clever...huh?). While I generally value educational toys, I found it a little sorry that kiddos will now be tempted to ride a fake bike indoors, when they could go outside to ride a real bike. Not to mention that they could scope out letters on street signs and learn maybe learn a little bit about community mobility/navigation/rules of the road for the toddler set!! We will be passing on it!

I just wondered with bad weather coming if it would provide exercise and learning at the same time?:confused3

For clever, my friend put her DD in the art class at Micheal's so she can shop. She spends money and the kid is in class. Marketing!

Winter....yes, but is it worth the $80?? My fear is that MY little one would rather ride the bike in the house rather than go outside and ride his after the bad weather is finished. I also have more than a slight bias against things that resemble video games.....but that's just me!! If you think your little one will like it, go for it! I wasn't that impressed, and when I saw it, it irked me on a few different parental levels! But I only saw it in passing...didn't hang out for too long!

my parents got this for my dd for Christmas & I'm thrilled. We don't live anywhere that my dd can easily ride a bike (we live in the country on an acre & a half w/no concrete or anything to ride on). My dd has been talking about it for a while & she'll be thrilled to get it. My dd loves playing educational toys & why not get exercise at the same time. If they'd rather play on the bike instead of outside, just tell them that's too bad that they need play outside. One of the perks of being the parent & not the child ;)

I'm thinking of getting this for my dd for her birthday or Christmas. She's too young to just go out and ride a bike (she'll be 4 just before Christmas) and she's a bit behind on the educational scale -- she just has no interest in learning those letters. She loves to play with her brother's Leapster and she liked the v-smile until it stopped working so I'm pretty sure she'll like the video game aspect of this - and may learn a bit at the same time.
