OT: Family Vehicle....Jeep Liberty or Commander?

OT question: Family car for fam of 5, Jeep Liberty or Commander? Price difference is $6612.00 (Commander being more $$ of course), dealer holding both for 24 hours. Thanks for any tips/suggestions

can't go wrong with either.

Liberty is just enough room for your clan . We have just a 3 member family but always at least 1 tag along.This could be a problem for a 5 member family.

We are looking at a new Jeep maybe next year and looking at the Commander just for the extra room . I would go with that unless you want to limit the tag alongs.

We now have a 93 Cherokee and a 99 Grand Cherokee.

I looked at the Jeep Commander because I wanted a vehicle with all wheel drive and seating for 7. I like the Commander but ended up getting the Ford Explorer because it had more leg room in the 3rd row.

I think you have to decide if you will use the 3rd row of seating. My dh told me that I would have more options if I didn't want that extra row, but with kids and kid's friends that extra seating is nice.

I don't think you can go wrong with either Jeep but you have to decide what's important to you. (and sit in the back seat)

We were looking at the Commander, because we liked that you had the option of taking a couple of extra people with you from time to time (we visit with friends a lot). We figured that most of the time we'd fold the seats down for the extra cargo room.

BTW-We've decided a minivan suits us better. I once swore I would never drive a minivan .

DH here, one more thing to consider is the room for luggage or lack therof for a family of 5 in the Liberty IIRC there wasn't much room behind the rear seat of course the same goes for the Commander with the 3rd row up. It might behoove you to take your luggage with you and try both out. Nevermind those funny looks you get

I would go for the Commander, no question. We are a family of 5 and would never fit in a liberty. We also have a grand cherokee and it is a snug fit.
