OT: False Negative Pregnancy Test?

All of mine have always been RIGHT AWAY positives....but I've heard as such...

The only time ive ever gotten a false negative was in a doctors office when I was going on the pill. In my doctors office they always do two tests. They came in told me it was neg and the doctor would be in shortly to do the pap...they came in 10 minutes later and announced i was pg...It was only 13 days after date of possible conception and I had taken the ECC but that pill had no effect on me. I ended up losing the baby to medical complications though. (Problems I wasnt aware of until 2 years later...)

Thank you all SO MUCH for your replies. I am thinking that I am just having a raging case of PMS! :) We are not planning on having more kids, but if we were pregnant, it would still be a blessing! My sister has some extra pregnancy tests, to I think I am going to talk her into bringing me a couple, just in case! I know this sounds nuts, but my DH keeps saying stuff about it and when he did that in the past, he was always right. :cutie: So, I guess we shall see!

 My DH was the same way. When I was pregnant with #2 none of my tests were positive until I got a blood test at 10wks--by then I was convinced I had cancer or something. DH says knew from 5wks on--because I couldn't stand chocolate!

I have no idea how I got pregnant with #3,but apparently I was a leetle bit moody:rolleyes1 One night DH went out to buy milk and came home with a pregnancy test. Then he stood outside the bathroom door until I came out--with a positive test. I was 12 weeks along. No wonder all I wanted to eat was cheese crackers!

WOW! How nice to not have to deal with a period for so long. As far as the preggers test goes, try again in a few days. If it's still negative see your OB/GYN. Is it normal to not have a period for so long after delivering? I know mine varied on how much and for how long I nursed. But 15 months may be something to be concerned about.

Normal. As long as you're still nursing regularly then no monthly. My oldest was 2 when she self weaned, my cycle started the next month and 3 months later I was pregnant with DD#2.

I had false negatives with both girls. The second time was the most frustrating. I knew I was pregnant from the way I felt but the HPTs were always negative. I went to the doctor and had a blood test and it came back negative. I went back a week later and finally got a positive. It seems my levels are low for awhile. I was on clomid when trying the second time to get pregnant. I got pregnant right away with our first DD. It took about a week of false negatives before I finally got the positive.
I suggest you get a blood test! I never got a positive HPT for my 2nd pregnancy and it took 2 blood tests to prove I was pregnant.
Good luck!

Totally normal and varies with the individual. I have gotten AF back as early as 9 months after birth and as late as 22 months.

When I became pregnant with my oldest DS, it took forever to get a positive test. Sometimes implantation is delayed for whatever reason.

You might want to look at peeonastick.com for the most sensitive home tests, needs the least hcg, or perhaps try a digital test. I highly recommend the Dollar Tree tests as they are quite sensitive ... I just got a positive with one today at 9 DPO (too early really *** too much can happen ...) I hope it goes the way you want.

I forgot to say in my other post, that peeonastick.com is great! You an really see which tests are the most sensitive. If you are really early, and use a test that is not very sensitive, you may get a "false negative". I also did use the dollar tree tests. I got positives very soon with them! They detect the lowest amount of HCG.

I took five pg tests and they all came back negative. I suspected I was pregnant but my period was not offically late yet. I was scheduled to have an epidural steriod injection done on my back for a disc injury and my dr did some routine blood work/lab work prior to having the injection done. The day before the procedure, his nurse calls me and says "i don't know how to tell you this, but did you know you were expecting?" I was like "WHAT??" Prior to getting pregnant, i had several miscarriages and my drs had already told me that getting pregnant was going to be practically impossible without medical intervention. So even though I suspected, I was shocked, happy and surprised...and relieved.

I wanted to see it with my own eyes, so I did a home test after I talked to the nurse and sure it enough....POSITIVE! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I say get a blood test and put your mind at ease.

Hope you get the results you want! :upsidedow
