This is really just a matter of curiosity.

I have a friend(like family really) that I recently decide to completely remove from my life after he played a very dirty trick on me. Anyway, I recently discovered that he appears to no longer be on FB. Is it possible for him to block or delete me as a friend without me knowing or being able to even see if he is still on FB or not? This would just be one more thing is a very long chain of bizarre events.....partially why he is totally X'd from my life.

Yes, he can remove you from his friends without you knowing and can block you'd from seeing him.
Sounds like you're better off without him!

That's pretty much what I thought. Yesterday I was on FB and out of the blue looked back at some old pictures that had been posted on my wall by friends. I noticed that there was a comment from now X friend and it had a new photo beside his name. So I'm thinking back to a couple of months ago when he told me he was having a problem with his FB account. That must have been when I was removed as a friend. Another lie added to the pile.

Yes, better off. There is zero trust now. Sad though as it was an 18yr friendship and now I wonder about a lot of things that happened over the years. I made this person a member of the family and often treated him better than some real family members.

People can render their account inactive, where they don't show up to anyone looking for them. It looks like they deleted their account. They can later reactive it and appear as they always did before.

Yes....I've had a friends do that for various reasons. In my circumstance I think I've been blocked because when I went back to an old photo, from a few years ago, in my albums this X friends comment is still there with a new profile picture. I then did a search of his name and didn't find that same name and picture.
